You know, one of the things I find sad when these type of things happen is how there are so many good kids out there who would love to be in a position like these guys. Starter on a NC contending team, projected top 5 draft pick, etc. These guys get great opportunities but just throw them away and it is really sad.
The fact is, there are a lot of crappy people that play college football, that come from really bad places and really bad backgrounds No team is immune to it, and unfortunately some of the best recruits that every team wants, end up being some of the worst people.

Players convicted of a felony cannot participate in SEC athletics, correct? I'm not sure how this applies to charges though.
In reality it will probably play out as Robinson pleads No Contest to a Misdemeanor weapons charge therefore having the felony reduced.
However, if he's truly that stupid to knowingly be toting around a stolen firearm then he doesn't need to be on the team anymore. Let him sit out the season and take his chances in the NFL.

I stated it was their own action but no matter the team we root for we shouldn't be excited about these things.
Yep - sucks. But actions have consequences. Hopefully it doesn't ruin their lives.

Well, you would keep some paper work for the sale transaction. At least you would if you truly innocently bought the gun and you are not a dumbass.
Lets see if Cam can produce anything
I don't disagree. The couple of times I've sold a gun, I've written out a bill of sale to protect me in case the weapon was later used in a crime.
Having said that, paperwork for a private sale isn't legally required (at least not in gun friendly states) and really isn't the norm. Both times I wrote one out, the buyers were surprised....
I doubt he'll have paperwork. He damned sure, however, better have a name of who sold it to him, where he bought it, and how much he paid. It would also help if it wasn't stolen, say, last week and he didn't buy it for an absurdly low price.

Cam will be suspended against Western Kentucky, and be magically reinstated in the 3rd quarter when they're losing. Call is the "DJ Hall Rule"

I have no idea what that means. What are you disagreeing with about my post? Do you really think they're going to waste time putting a non-violent, first time offender in jail over something like this?

Cheers to you brother
Ang you're right consequences are to be had in these type of situations. I hope it doesn't either.

Maybe, but if these are first offenses for both of them (and Cam Rob has a legit, believable story about having the stolen firearm) then I'm betting the felony gets pled down and they both get probation.
I bet this is the likely scenario. The question us though how will Saban punish them? Serious suspension? Kicked off team? He has some serious PR issues to deal with regardless of what punishment the CJS eventually hands down too them.

Can you give an example on a legit reason for having a stolen firearm under your seat while smoking dope in the middle of the night next to a park?

Will the NCAA investigate where the guns came from?
If OM is spice U, Bama is drug runner U.

First off, this is really sad and this could be a poor decision that costs Cam millions.
Second, have they released whose car they were in and what type of vehicle it was?**
**I remember all sorts of rumors of Cam all of the sudden driving a King Ranch F250 around the time he committed to Bama. That would be an interesting side note in all of this mess.

Yea, I'm sure you scan the Louisiana police blotters and celebrate each morning for all the felons that are arrested across the state.
