Hush. Assuming Kirby could keep JP's ego in check all of UGA would be ecstatic to have Pruitt back running the D and calling plays. The man knows how to run and call a defense, there is no question about that.

Him and Kirby working TOGETHER and not butting heads would be a deadly combination.

He wouldn't be back at Bama until next year at the earliest, even if he gets fired next week.

Bama is going to have to work with what they have this year.

Like I said on here when UT hired him - either he does great at UT, and we bring him home when Saban retires. Or he crashes and burns at UT and we bring back the best DC we've had under Saban. Win win.

Makes the most obsessed auburn posters on ITAT look well adjusted in comparison. And at least auburn is our long time rival. I can’t even comprehend the darkness that drives something like Willy T.

My perception is Pruitt owes a lot to his 1 year as DC for the 2013 FSU team that won the NC. Good for him to springboard to more money and better positions. But, I’m not sure he did anything other than not frick up what the prior Noles DC, Mark Stoops, built. Is Pruitt capable of developing and building on his own? Doesn’t look like it.

Saban is the greatest coach the game has ever seen. Period. His greatest strengths are recruiting and developing of players...and just in general, running a very tight ship. If he has a weakness at all, it's gameday X's and O's. But to whatever degree it is a "weakness", it isn't enough of one to cast question on him being the greatest coach of all time. So this is just silly. Every one of us would kill for Saban as our coach.

Solid analysis. Another of his strengths is self-awareness because Saban himself has admitted on multiple occasions that his weakness is the in-game X's and O's.

Richt had him because he was best coach on staff. Smart wouldn't have wanted him since they were big rivals at Bama and in any event Saban had already set the table and was thrilled to get him back.

Smart said Tuesday UT is under a great, great coaching staff and more. He knows. And JP knows Smart is a damn good coach as well. That's why they were rivals at Bama. Things happen though.

How do you know? Do you also “think” he’s a better HC?

I believe Kirby knew that Pruitt was stirring up a lot of shite at UGA, didn't feel like he could be trusted as far as not being a back-stabber like Pruitt tried to do with Richt, and didn't offer Pruitt retention on the staff simply because of that.

If articles written last season are to be believed, Pruitt was doing everything he could possibly do behind the scenes to get Richt fired mid-season and have himself appointed as the interim HC.

Saban has had a top defense for a longgggg time and the year we have a lot of youth and injuries you come with your predictable hyperbole. Shocking.
I gave facts and figures to back up my point and you respond with "You are spewing garbage" and "You're a strange dude" while sprinkling in an excuse that every team in America faces (injuries).

It ain't just a river in Egypt, buddy!

ETA: Looking through other responses "Dahhh Willy ubSessEd" - prove I'm wrong.

Sabam needs a defensive mastermind to run his defense, because he isn't one.

I personally would demote Golding immediately to have Pruitt call plays and lead the defense and I think several Bama fans are of the same thought. Golding has been a disappointment up to this point even though there have been a ton of injuries. I

We are starting like 6 true freshmen in our front 7 not sure how that is Golding's fault. Anyone who has been paying attention at all knew that there was going to be a struggle on D this season.

He called plays for us last year as well in case you’re unaware. They demoted Tosh around the second or third game of the year.

Yeah - almost - but not really.

Kirby:
2008: #7 defense
2009: #2 defense
2010: #3 defense
2011: #1 defense
2012: #1 defense
2013: #4 defense
2014: #6 defense
2015: #2 defense

Why would Smart keep Pruitt after all of the nonsense he pulled?

You probably think 2008 was sabans first year with kirby lol

In the end, it doesn't matter if you want to call Saban elite defensive coach or elite dc evaluator. The end results speak for themselves.

Nope. Kirby was consistent for a good decade. Pruitt, while great for a year or two, didn't prove he could do it over the long haul. Not that he can't, but to suggest based on what the two did at Bama that Pruitt is better is a bit ridiculous.

Pruitt's style worked better in the time he was at bama, it seemed faster, more attacking, more blitzes. Kirby/ Sabans early bama style had to evolve to face the impact of spread teams and the changing offensive style in cfb. I think simply having fresh blood and ideas also helped pruitt seem like the better fit after a decade with kirby and Saban.
