why are you guys acting like Creighton is some kind of beast? they haven't played any where near the competition that we play... they have had games where they scored in the sixty's... and they play horrible defense. randolf, cooper, green and still will really frustrate him.. Engstrom is a better defender then ya'll give him credit 4.

Bama will beat Creighton by double digits easy

I don't think it's that. It's more along the lines of we haven't played a really good game against a really good team all year.

I didnt mean for this post to sound as negative as it does. I think Alabama can win this game but they have to play sharp. Releford, lacy, and green are going to have to find some kind of chemistry in this game. I think we play as hard as anyone in the country and Grant has brought that mid major "chip on our shoulder" mentality to this team. Reading about Creighton's arrogance, I think we have a huge advantage in mental and physical toughness that will keep us in this game.

However, I don't like the match ups in this game. I think it's easier for a team like creighton to step up defensively than it will be for us to step up offensively. We are incapable of going on runs. A: we don't shoot well enough and B: our offense doesn't take shots early enough in a possession to stay hot unless it's a fast break. Rarely have I seen us get into a rhythm this year.

Another thing is we don't have a guy that can matchup in a man to man with a big that plays in and out as well as McDermott does. If green guards him he will get into foul trouble immediately and we will also be forced to play engstrom or gueye. Hopefully cooper can match up with him and limit him from the outside.

They will go on runs and we will have to force a lot of turnovers and draw a lot of fouls to keep up.

I know this is a horrible post coming from a bama fan, forgive me!!

FWIW former UF guard Teddy Dupay picked Bama to drill Creighton and beat UNC this morning on 97.7 The Zone in Huntsville.

Wrong. 1) They dont have the athletes we have. they arent going to get bigger, stronger, faster overnight. 2) they arent a defensive team from what i can tell. teams dont just start playing great D overnight. it takes a long time develop the teamwork and mentality to be a good defensive team. but, our shots could start falling at anytime. (provided we actually take shots and dont just pass it around the arc and make turnovers)

Our coaching staff must have drilled it in their head that we aren't supposed to shoot early in the shot clock no matter how open we get. Our best shots against USC and UF were at the end of the game when we felt like we had to score and do it quickly.

If Levi Randolph, a true freshman, can guard Jeffrey Taylor he can guard McDermott. He will just have to get help from our bigs when DM tries to post him up. I expect Steel and Cooper to also take turns with him. They should overplay him and deny him the ball. Try to wear him out. Make him work just to touch the ball.

Also attack him when Bama has the ball, make him play defense and try to get him in foul trouble.

How did Wichita State beat them?

Limited open threes and got out and ran...something we're capable of doing

I hate the pace we play at. A lot. I realize that nothing is worse than having 3 or 4 possessions in a row where you only get one shot and miss it, but what's the point of taking your time when you just end up with a bad shot anyway?

I think Bama handles Creighton ... and loses to UNC in an ugly, hard-fought, battle.

I don't understand it. I mean they leave us alone on the perimeter early in the shot clock. We may as well throw it up and hope it goes in. I like our odds of scoring that way a lot better than jacking up a bad shot with a few seconds left on the shot clock. We're going to need Releford, Steele, and Lacey to all drive to the hoop the whole game. Just play aggressive like there's nothing to lose.

Then key to this game may be Trevor Releford. He is best in the open court. Bama needs a large game from him and for him to push the pace. Surely Bama has more athletes than Creighton. Might be a good idea to press even if it means giving up some open looks at threes. They become harder to hit as your tongue starts hanging out of your mouth.

None of our guards shoot over 30% from the 3 pt line and you want them to shoot quicker?

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

How much is the recipe we're using now on offense working?

Maybe freeing them up to be aggressive and take quality shots regardless of time would make them more confident and comfortable with their shots.

Good enough to get us in the tourney? Haha Yea I know but I think that would just result in missing more shots...quicker.

I think we get decent shots from outside the arc...they just never go in.

Hopefully, Lacey can 2 or 3 in the first half and loosen up the D. One can dream.

Green would have been much more effective all year without the defenses collapsing on him (obviously).

what has been going on with him? is he even gonna be our primary ball handler?

Steele

i wish he would play more like a forward and less like a guard. he's not shooting the three anymore. i think he can present problems for Crieghton on the boards.

quote:

Lacey

i wish he would stop smiling all the damn time and get more aggressive.

Like bonafide said, maybe it's give them confidence in their shots if they could freely pull the trigger.
