Bama vs Creighton discussion

i'd really like to see Levi defend him.

i've said before that i'd like to see cooper start this game and really get involved by defending McDermott.

Bama should start Green and 4 guards. Let Levi, Cooper and Steele rotate on McDermott, playing pressure defense and denying him the ball. Bama needs Green on the court, scoring and rebounding to have a chance. Green can help on McDermott when he tries to post up smaller players.

Regardless of who we start (and I'm pretty sure it will be Jacobs and Green) we will go small at some points.

My guess is we'll go small at times when Jamychal's in and then definitely go small when we give him some rest. Engstrom or Jacobs at the 5, Cooper or Steele at the four. Because having Engstrom/Gueye and Jacobs out there at the same time would be a disaster unless McDermott's on the bench.

you're a fricking moron. Thinking the first 10 games are the reason you'll beat creighton easily? 2nd half bama isn't even close to a tourney team. Just sit and hope like most bama fans, asshat. You don't know shite

Well Cooper and Steele are on the roster as forwards and Cooper even matched up against Moultry our last game against Miss St. Jacobs looked lost in our last game in all the defenses. I mean he looked lost in man to man.

Cooper has the ideal size, but I think Randoph is a much better defender. Levi will need to have a big game for us. hopefully his defense can lead to some transition buckets.

Only way Alabama advances is if they score 10 or more transition/fastbreak points. Not enough offense against one of the nation's most efficient offensive teams.

Bama has to score on press, turnovers and transition or it is one and done. They have the athletes to do it.

The paper in Omaha anticipates that Nick Jacobs will draw the assignment of covering McDermott.

quote:

Freshman Nick Jacobs will likely draw the unenviable assignment of guarding Bluejay star Doug McDermott. His ability to score with either hand and from anywhere on the court has been particularly mystifying to first-time opponents.

I'm not sure Ben Eblen couldn't post up on the block against Jacobs and score double figures. That's how bad Jacobs is defensively.

CAG is not going to allow Jacobs to guard McDermott. When Jacobs is in the game, McDermott may guard him but there is absolutely no way that Jacobs guards DM. I am not sure CAG would allow Jacobs to switch on a screen to guard DM.

Jacobs can't stay close to his shadow, much less guard DM.

If you go with Engstrom or Gueye and 4 wing players you are conceding any opportunity to get points in the paint. Bama may play Jacobs on the Creighton center with 4 wings just to maintain a post scoring threat when JaMychal is out.

Huge problem for the Tide. Forced to pick whether you play an offensive or defensive player. Jacobs has to improve in this area.

Jacobs might be able to defend the Creighton Center. by all accounts he is pretty slow, and hes not terribly tall (6'9" 270)

i remember some games early in the year where Jacobs had several blocks. but when we got to SECplay he would get schooled. if he could just learn to keep his feet and not bite on the pump fake, that would be an improvement

Jacobs had 5 blocks against Wichita State

i dont think Gueye will play unless we get in serious seious foul trouble. his numbers are way down since Jamychal game back.

im really not sure which of our 7 footers is better. but they've both got a few more years in the program and they both have room for improvement.
