Would you expect your school to continue keeping a kid on academic scholarship if it required him to have an A average and he kept a C average? Football is no different. Earn it or lose it. And it's not like the staff doesn't help them get to a program where they can CONTINUE to get a FREE education. The only programs complaining are the ones that can't keep up. I'm looking at you Auburn.

William Ming...now that's a name I haven't heard in a while. Whatever happened with him?

I could have told you on NSD two years ago Ming was not being brought in to play. Ming is a genius, and a tutor for the players who are struggling.

Scratch one commit off that list. Shannon Brown is going to JUCO. I was stoked about this kid.

Same. But maybe going to JUCO will be good for him with the depth we have at MLB now

And it frees up a spot for Curtis Grant. I kid, I kid, but seriously, I've not heard anything about this Grant kid. Does anybody know anything about him?

One could argue it is unfair, I suppose, but it is within the rules right now. If Bama keeps abusing the rule though, that loophole will be closed soon.

How is "being within the rules" in any way "abusing the rules?" If the speed limit is 25, and I'm going 25, am I abusing the rule? Of course not. I'm following the rule.

If the Hubbard stuff is true then I guarantee Saban puts restrictions on him in regards to where he can transfer because SEC schools would be lined up to take him.

I was really excited about him to. Hope he has a good year and comes back.

The loss of him shouldn't knock bama from number 1.

If you can't understand then you are an idiot. I know you are not because I have read enough of your posts, so I can only assume you just wanted to post a bad anology. You have done that, do you feel better?

Since when does the entire 25 of a signing class report that year? usually there several who get rerouted to JUCO or end up not coming to the school outright for one reason or another. Then you have guys leaving to the pros, injured players, academic casualties, guys who want to transfer because they are not playing etc. If you signed the exact number you were allowed each year it would be hard to deal with all of the attrition that happens at a major football program.

When you sign an athletic scholarship, it should be a binding contract between the university and the student for 4 (5) years.

If that student lives up to his end of the bargain I agree. However, there are many guys who do not put in the work year after year in the classroom or in trying to become the best players they can be. The above quote is the half assed mentality. This is binding whether I live up to my end of bargain or not.

Amazed at how many people fail to make this same connection. If you're rewarded financial aid for meeting certain standards, don't be amazed when that aid is taken away after you've fallen beneath those standards...academic, athletic or otherwise.

I think this is a huge reason for disparity on the field as well. Honestly, how many of those kids, if the classes at Bama, LSU, Arky, UF Aub etc. all filled up do you think would end up at a Michigan State or a Purdue? I think a lot would and it would even the field a little bit. Not saying even but closer

We have 85, you have 85.

Students lose scholarships all the time because they fail to meet their GPA requirements. No one cares at all when this happens. Yet when a football player has to transfer people throw a fit over it?

There is a reason tOSU dominates the Big 10 (Insert latest number here) year after year, is usually ranked high in the top 10 year after year and is projected to contend for the BCSNC year after year. Its because you dominate recruiting in your region. I bet that if you did the homework....I won't...you'll find that sweater vest Jim does things exactly as you say the SEC does. There is attrition in every recruiting class at every school and some years are worse than others.

LSU has no problem getting all 25 in every year.seriously we've gotten everyone in for the last 2-3 years. No jucos.Bama takes those kids with the knowledge that they will go juco and then go to Bama when they're done.Helps the roster clear some and helps the kids be more ready for playing time at Bama. Both ways work.
