Ain't none of these established Coaches want to follow Saban, and

Lane probably only one quirky enough to not care

According to Greg McElroy there is too much bad blood there from when Kiffin left.

It 100% won't be Lane.

Would be a very good hire. The question is if Kiffin wants to leave his cushy gig. Bama is a better job overall, but is it better now?

that’s Deboer, not Pete, although Pete would be in the circle with his ties to Sark & Kiffin.. and another coach who could actually manage expectations there

He’s quite literally been on record saying the opposite.

Yep:
“What could you possibly do right if you don’t win the national championship every year?” Kiffin said. “‘You’re going to follow Nick Saban at Alabama?’ No, that would not be a good decision for anyone.”

“I followed two Hall of Fame coaches in Phillip Fulmer and Pete Carroll. Not smart. So, you see how USC ended. (Replacing Saban) would be the dumbest follow ever.”

Why are you so sure? Kiffin definitely will not be the first choice because there are coaches who are smart enough to realize that you never follow a legend. Kiffin is a whore and turned down Auburn knowing he could never get the Bama job if he went to Auburn.

Kiffin is the fallback when Bama gets rejected by 2-3 others. He would crawl to Tuscaloosa

Lane at Alabama is a pretty scary concept. What he has done at Ole Miss is pretty amazing.

I really hope he stays there, tbh.

Lane Kiffin wouldn't be afraid to call out the 15 year Learfield deal that Saban fought against.

Alabama has had enough dirty laundry to deal with because of the Basketball program scandal to want anything to do with Lane being even more vocal than Nick was about accountability.

Nick got away with his comments to the dissatisfaction of the athletic department. I doubt that a new Alabama football coach will have anywhere near the same amount of clout.

Fact: The last coach to build something lasting at Ole Miss was Johnny Vaught (1947-1970 with 6 SEC titles). Kiffin has carte blanche to continue building something new with new recruiting rules in place and the league structured differently.

Saban is the all-time greatest college football coach. (6 natties at Alabama, 7 overall). Unlikely any coach will ever come close. Kiffin has nothing to gain by being compared immediately, as well as season after season, to what Saban did. Actually, every coach out there will face the same situation.

'Bama has had the good fortune to enjoy two dynasties--one under Bryant, and one under Saban. But they did not happen back to back.

In-between, a number of coaches struggled by comparison to what Bryant achieved. And Saban topped all that.

Just some facts, folks.

Assuming Harbaugh goes pro, there’s only two active coaches with national championship wins: Kirby and Dabo.

Kirby isn’t coming so I guess this means Dabo to Alabama. Congrats, Gumps!
