Suffice to say, things don't look good for Sabans long term. Things probably won't be outwardly visible for awhile yet, but believe me when I say that the brain trust in Tuscaloosa is crapping their collective pants right now.
...Things don't look good for ANY of us long term!
I'm from Tuscaloosa and know the "lay of the land" there in the AD, and can tell you that NOBODY is crapping their pants. Damn man, we're about to land a top-2 recruiting class again and have players coming back that we thought were NFL bound.
There's gonna be a ton of rival fans (mostly coonasses) who are gonna wish that there was no such thing as "bookmarking", again this time next year...don't be one of them.

I'm not afraid of "bookmarking." Whatever that is.

And you may be from Tuscaloosa or wherever, but that doesn't mean you know sports. OK?

That reading comprehension need some work, Eddie. I said that I know what's going on around the Ath. Dept. in Tuscaloosa
By the way, the only 2 kids opting out of their bowl game are 2 that have been injured about 1/2 their careers at Alabama. Everybody else is on board!

Well you need to make that more clear to begin with. How was I supposed to know?

I don't like your attitude. You guys have fun in this thread but you can't argue with science.

That’s a lot of stupid just to get a down vote.

Easier way to get a downvoted... just say the obvious, LSU fans are retarded.

Down votes will rain down in buckets.

If Clemson loses to OSU, they should schedule an impromptu game with tGumps to determine which team has reached tDecline.

Loser is in full decline while the winner of said game gets one more season to prove its worth.

ETA: It’s unfathomable and borderline criminal that Bama wasn’t paired with Memphis in the UT Bowl. If they had lost to Memphis, tDecline would be official and undeniable.

HRV is an acquired taste and I get that he's trying to be funny. But, here is what seriously keeps me up ...

What if Bama stays a great team, and what if LSU and Georgia stays very good and Auburn becomes consistent and hell ... Tennessee might improve (no telling what Pruitt could accomplish there) .. what if Florida gets into that mix too (which I think they will)?

Well, we'll end up beating each other up and there may come a season where the SEC champ has 2 losses but is still very good or better than any team from any other conference but gets passed over for the playoffs because the weaker conferences champ has only one or zero losses.

As far as teams in the SEC go, this is what concerns me. So, yeah I'm hoping A1abama will become a second tier school -- probably won't happen though. I hope the rest stay down and we get our 3-4 year reign at the top but that likely won't happen if I'm being serious.

This is a great post, which adds the very reasonable line of thought that the bowl committees are trying to hold off the inevitable as some type of favor to Alabama. That's to be expected: the top bowl officials continue to outwardly prop up the Tide while secretly scouring the landscape for where the new dynasty will come from.

They know it's over too, but they are paid to do the smile and nod routine for the time being.

Excellent post sir.

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time two SEC teams met in the SECCG both with 2 losses each?

Who was the "dynasty" before this Bama run?

This is an embarrassingly naive application of theory.
1st, you're assuming all the other variables in the success equation have been static. this is, objectively, a very stupid thing to do in all complex modelling.

2nd, the law of diminishing return is in regard to the output of the additional input, not of the relationship between the total input versus the total output. While the diminishing return does imply the rate of gain on additional input falls below a linear growth rate, it does not in anyway indicate a net negative production on added input.

3rd, the point of maximum yield only exists if the input has a cost. if additional input has no cost or the cost is never worth consideration, there is no point of maximum yield.
