This is actually an interesting question given the recent legal changes on state level in places like Colorado & Washington and for those states that have Med. ganja like Cali, would a player (say at USC) with a Medical Card be able to smoke and then not have any ramifications from their school if caught? If so it seems if one just couldn't lay off the weed and they had scholly offers they'd be more likely to go there as opposed to LSU-aka Honey Badger or some other SEC school where they'd be potentially throwing their scholly away. I mean how different would that kid's life be had he been playing in California?
To your question though, I have a friend who claims he bought sacks from a player under Shula but I also never know when this cat is lying or telling fact.

I wouldn't doubt it. Jimmy Johns wasn't selling girl scout cookies.

I'm sorry but I just find it hard to believe that Saban being the tyrant that he is, would just tell players to be cool with their weed smoking.
Well, believe it, buddy, tis true.

Seriously. Anyone who looks at the players recruited, looks at other programs, and sees the lack of failed drug tests should be able to conclude that Saban is helping these guys out. He's smart for doing it. Quit thinking that Saban is some all powerful god who can make a player into a model citizen by whispering "process" softly into his ear. Some of you guys are delusional.

Meh, Saban is such a good coach Bama players don't smoke pot and don't hold.

Weed isn't a part of the "process". Therefor no one under Saban has ever touched the stuff.

The TCU drug ring apparently is a tradition at TCU. Football players have been selling drugs there for many decades. College kids going to be college kids. Selling drugs is an easy way to make a decent living in a college town.

It's too bad none of the other SEC schools haven't caught on to what Alabama is doing.
I'm sure UGA players don't get away with smoking weed. I'm sure they are never warned about a drug test or failed one and had it covered up, and that any player at UGA that smokes weed has gotten suspended.
I'm sure the athletes at UGA and Auburn never took freebie "A" classes and that only happens at "other" schools.
I'm sure the Big 10 holds their athletes to a higher academic and moral standards and they don't bend rules for big time recruits.
I'm sure Oregon didn't pay handlers $50,000 for Lache Seastrunk but really were paying for his "recruiting service" which was really just old VHS tape of game broadcasts.
Its not fair that Alabama gets away with it and nobody else does!

Ft. Worth is like the 16h or 17th largest city in the country. It is larger than Detroit, Boston, Denver, Baltimore, Las Vegas, and Atlanta. If you want drugs in Ft. Worth you don't need to buy them from a college kid.

Nobody is saying they "get away" with anything..just that their enforcement and their guidelines may be different than other schools. For example at alabama the policy is thus:
Alabama
1st-No Suspension 2-15% of Season 3-One Year 4-Dismissal
Georgia
1st-10% of season 2-50% of season 3-dismissal
So for a kid who gets busted smoking weed, you have, for:
1st time- bama, 0 games. UGA, 2 games
2nd time- bama, 2 games. UGA, 6 games
You don't see the disparity there? Nobody is saying bama is cheating or doing anything wrong, they just have a different set of rules.
