Thought that changed for the '65 season.

Only the AP, and only the 65 season. They went back to doing it before the bowls in 66 and 67. Finally, the AP permanently waited until after the bowls for the 1968 season on. The Coaches poll didn't follow until 1974.

Which of the two major poll titles for 1964 resides in Fayetteville?

Using that method Alabama has 20 national championships (1925, 1926, 1930, 1934, 1941, 1945, 1961, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015).

So, yea

4 of which were from 1893 to 1912, an era in which there were 3 downs, touchdowns were 5 points and the field was 110 yards long.

The 1893 Auburn team played 5 games. The 1897 Auburn team played 3 games. The 1900 Auburn team played 4 games. So, in that light, I'm going to go ahead and anoint the 2017 Alabama Crimson Tide as undefeated as they are 5-0.

I still want to know who in the REC changed the '41 Houlgate poll 20+ years later.

There are years you missed such as 1919 and 1914.

is it more amusing than the one you claim after going on probation for paying your players?

If it were not for this practice, Alabama would have ZERO championships in football.

I am guessing there was a "REC member" working for the magazine that published the records in the 60's. If I recall correctly it was the precursor for Sports illustrated or something like that. I believe it was the Illustrated world of sports or something like that.

I still cant believe no one has actually fact checked it, because there were a lot of inaccuracies(not just the '41 houlgate), but the NCAA and everyone ran with it.

It was war time. Things were scary and confusing, and sometimes choices have to be made that won't make sense to us coddled children of the new millennium.

Its sad...Auburn doesn't claim 1914 but that year was unique like any other year. Auburn won or tied each game they played and the opponent scored zero pts. If Auburn claimed titles the bama does we would have more than 2 at least 5.

Everytime I hear a bama fan say "we have 16 titles" it disgusts me.

How many times do you hear Bama fans say that? Be truthful dude, how many?

Because I can guarantee you I spend more time around Bama fans, on Bama's campus, attending Bama sporting events than you and I can't recall and "adult" Bama fan make that statement. Little school age kids, sure they say all kinds of shite, "my daddy can beat your daddy", but adults aren't walking around saying that shite.

Ehh, I know a couple of adults who say it quite often.

I posted a photo of the game flyover this past weekend on my FB and the first comment was a 45 yo bama grad, "You'll never beat Bama and their 16 titles" And my wifes aunt says it all the time as well and she didnt even go there.

But anyone that lets it get to them needs check their priorities
