OP here is your answer to "so why?" We do it to give little bros like TheGusBus34 something to get mad and obsess over. This guy is so pissed about something from 76 years ago.

1913 - 1 retroactive selector (not a poll).
1957 - AP (already claimed).
1983 - Good luck claiming a title this deep into the AP and Coaches polls...
1993 - Seriously? Postseason ban.
2010: AP, BCS (already claimed).
So, at most, you'd have 3 "claiming them like Bama" instead of 2 (1913).

And they don't even realize that Bama chooses NOT to claim 4 more titles (1945, 1966, 1975, 1977) from the records books.

That one has been the source of the bogus title claims against Bama even though other SEC teams have more bogus claims than Bama. I wish they would remove that one.

Again, this is 1941 is so dumb. The "way Bama claims titles" is the Rose Bowl pre polls + AP/Coaches Titles.......except for stupid as frick 1941.

It was a marketing ploy put together in the late 80's. 1941 was a team that some unknown service claimed to be #1. To be honest, I would rather that one die away! I wouldn't complain AT ALL!!!

I don't claim 41. And I agree that it reduces the legitimacy and value of the other titles to throw in a ridiculous one like '41. When I was growing up as an Alabama fan in the 90's and mid 2000's, we were all a lot like current Tennessee or Nebraska fans. Our actual team sucked so much that our pride came from trying to prop up our past into something even greater than it was. We started playing Bear Bryant video's before games and wearing shirts obsessing over having 12 titles because there wasn't shite else to celebrate. That's why UT tries to trot out Peyton Manning at every game they can get him to come to.

It's dumb to claim 1941, but for some reason we don't claim 1966. Bama won back to back in 1964 & 1965, then went undefeated in 1966, yet don't claim that title.
