They don't play anyone? Do they not play in the SEC against virtually the same teams Auburn plays every year?

You might have a point if anyone was claiming Auburn has a great Defense.

The fact that you are using the transitive property to debate football tells me everything I need to know about your football IQ.

Every average game stat is based on what other teams did against them and what they did on them. So don't try to act like what you are claiming is any different.

Outside of the annual three yards and a cloud of dust bowl against LSU, they are in their nickel packages more often than not. That is true for most defenses these days.

The difference is that Chavis can go nickel with his base personnel. The aTm air raid is a bit extreme and from what I remember Chavis used a dime package against you. However, in the day and age of the HUNH, being able to go with multiple packages with the base personnel seems to be the trend.

So we are in agreement that Auburn is a complete shite show?

South Carolina was a perfect storm of over confidence by our own team and South Carolina just being in a zone I have not seen them in before or since.

LSU beat us. That was an old-fashioned, stand 'em up, slobber knocker of a game and LSU got the better of us.

Auburn was just, wow, we should have won that game. We had it and we blew it.

It was the annual opposing QB turns into Peyton Manning game we seem to face every season.

So by your own admission, Alabama has a great defense. Is that what I am understanding? We are in agreement that Auburn has a terrible defense.

In 2013, Auburn gave up 420 yards a game to virtually the same opponents Alabama gave up 286 yards on.

In 2012, Auburn was still giving up 420 yards on average to opponents Alabama was giving up 250 yards on average to.

Every team in the SEC West plays virtually the same teams every single season, and Alabama's defensive stats for both 2012 and 2013 are far and above the rest of the division.

That might be coincidence or that might be good defense. I already know which side you will pick so don't waste my time.

Controlling the interior of the line is more important than how fat the d-ends are... If you can control and run the ball down their throat this will open up the ends... That's the reason AU beat bama last year... It's not that their ends are fat and slow, it's the fact that you have to keep them honest and not forsake the run up the middle... If you do this their ends will have a field day...

How many posts should a person have to have before they can start a thread? 1000?

Bama has also mostly avoided playing good offenses and when they did they looked average to bad.

In 2011 and 2012, Alabama's schedule wasn't any easier than Georgia's yet observe the difference in the rankings. Georgia's the only SEC East team that's consistently had a formidable offense recently, and 2012 Alabama held them to 21 points.

Not sure if this is a troll or serious but I do somewhat understand what you are getting at. The teams we have been beaten by the past couple of years have all had mobile quarterbacks. Our d-ends can be somewhat slow if the edges aren't contained properly. I would like to see us get more of a variety to combat the different style offenses. We really do need some faster/slimmer but still solid tackling ends. On the flip side....our run d has been the best in the nation for a reason. You can count the number of 100 yard rushers against us since 2008 on 1 hand. That's one of the advantages of having those bigger and somewhat slower ends. It's very hard to cover the field and cover a fast quarterback as well. Not impossible but you MUST have the right personel on the field to do it. I do believe in this class we've addressed some of those issues. We have 3 recent Natties....I'm confident in Sabans ability to handle business and get it corrected.

PS....you do understand that if we get this corrected we're going to be like 56-0 over the next 4 years right? You ready for that?

As Spurrier said last week, sometimes it's the team that plays the best that wins, not the team that has the best players.

I knew a trainer who was on the team that year and he said post game a lot of guys would immediately go into the locker room and get out their phones and begin searching online what was being said about their draft stock and stuff and that's all they talked about.

So yeah, can't let that mentality corrupt your team, Saban's done a better job at ego management since then.
