Michael Vinsanau ? Verified account @VinsanauWDSU Follow Follow @VinsanauWDSU More Ponchatoula's Police Chief told me today , the fight that led to Robert Bowers' death at the Ponchatoula Pub was not over LSU-Alabama game. The Chief said the fight began over an incident involving Bowers' niece, who was intoxicated. Heartbreaking still, but not over football.

there was no "beat to death" and had nothing to do with the game.

No telling whether the first hit did it or the subsequent shots, no?

"Anthony struck Bowers in the head, knocked him unconscious," Layrisson said. "He went to the ground and Azia Crockett punched him multiple times, as well."

I think the sensational headline has been run with a bit, but he was "beaten up" and he died... so he was beat to death no matter how you look at it. Is there a link to the part where he spit in someone's face and instigated this?

That’s why us ranters settle things at Sonic like respectable fans. Anything can be settled in a civilized manner over some tots, poppers, and a cherry limeade.

There's been a thread on the Rant all day about this. The WBRZ story is missing a bunch of facts and makes assumptions that the only reason the fight occurred is because of his fan affiliation. More to the story in the other thread. Seems the guy that sucker punched him is a Bama fan too. This is just a bar fight plain & simple

Thanks for the link. It's still pretty fricked up though. He got sucker punched over something a guy with him did. I'm glad it wasn't game related but at the same time, fricking hell. I don't know dude. I can't put words to it I guess.

Very sorry for the passing of this man. People are really sick in the head. I’m not going to victim blame. I just would tell people to be careful of your surroundings in opposition’s territory. RIP sir

This is what happens when you invest 100% of your pride and self-worth in your favorite football team.

He wasn't in the "opposition's" territory.

He was a local shithead who started one fight too many

I noticed after I posted... But yeah, 99/100 that comment is sarcastic... so you can see why I assumed otherwise.

The cops are stating the fight started because of the actions of the guy’s niece. Meanwhile you’re claiming it started because the guy spit in someone’s face. You’re full of shite.

We all saw how unhinged they were for two whole weeks. They really do live vicariously through their football team.

Edit: I misread the thread title on my phone.

What I said applies, just not here.

Nonetheless, terrible situation.
