bama Dynasty was never sustainable because it was built off of flukes

It was an unreal run of flukes that got them to their “dynasty” status. Bama fans like to pretend they used to make teams “quit” but that was mostly against the weaker teams in the SEC. Reality is they caught a bunch of breaks.
2009 - Carlos Dunlap gets suspended the week of the SEC title. Colt McCoy gets injured early in the title game.
2011 - Oklahoma State blows a game they were massively favored in against Iowa State, allowing bama to back door their way into a rematch.
2012 - LSU dominates Alabama for the majority of the game. Bama pulls a rabbit out of their hat late. A week later A&M dismantles them. Georgia plays them great but has a ball batted down. Chaos happens in the BCS with Oregon and Kansas State. bama once again back doors their way in.
2015
This one was pretty legit. Of course, Clemson’s best defensive player was injured. But still, probably the least flukey of the bunch.
2017
Blown out by Auburn and they back door their way into the playoffs while a beat up Auburn team has to play Georgia in the SEC title.
2020
Covid year. Self explanatory.

I love shitting on bama as much as anyone but you can't just pick and choose breaks and claim that any luck that happened to anyone else rightfully happened to your team. If the georgia receiver doesn't bat the ball to a downfield receiver 2012 auburn doesn't make a championship appearance. If stoerner doesn't fumble Tennessee doesn't win in 1998. If there would have been a playoff in 2004 auburn would have gotten boat raced by usc. If 2008 usc doesn't shite the bed against Oregon state they beat Florida for the ship. I could go on all day.

2011 and 2017 made a mockery of the system because they were essentially rewarded for losing with a bye week.
I don’t know of any other system comparable to that, and it’s why winning your conference (or at least appearing in the championship game) should have been a requirement for the BCS or playoffs.

Dynasties rarely last for more than a decade so, in the end, none of them are ever truly sustainable. Here are just a few examples:
1971-1981 Alabama
1983-1992 Miami
1987-2000 Florida State
And if you want to go ahead and include Alabama in that category, there's is comparable in length to the previous three:
2008-2021 Alabama
