No Alabama fan here, but the situations where not exactly the same. When Saban left LSU for Miami (NFL), and Miles took over, there was no transfer portal. If a player transferred when Miles was hired, they had to sit out for 1 year unless they transferred down to D2.

Saban signed these players and given that the majority of Saban's roster were not Alabama HS ball players, those guys are now leaving to go somewhere else, probably one of their other top choices and maybe where they would have signed had Saban not been at Alabama.

The situation for LSU is more similar to O getting fired and BK coming in. LSU was at 39 Scholarships for the Texas Bowl (I think 41 or 42 were still on scholly but those extra 2/3 were not eligible for academic progress towards their degree if I remember correctly).

My guess is Bama is going to have to hit the portal in the spring window and bring in 10-15 players.

Spot on. The timing of this with the 30 day window has left us out to be pillaged, and is something that will become more pertinent going forward with coaching "transitions". I think the NCAA will do something about it, especially if something happens with Michigan, but I believe they will hire from within and have a much shallower cut than what we experienced.

You're wrong about this. And I guarantee you that history has told, and will be retold that Bama is, was, and always will be the greatest college football team of all.

Teaching your kids to quit if the road gets hard and to not face adversity with your brothers and just quit them for the greener pastures is solid parenting in this generation.

He just doesn’t want to admit that his son is getting a bagful of money and was tampered with. It is another business decision. Best of luck to the kid.

They aren’t coming to play for UGA, Tenn, LSU, etc… either. Enjoy!

Never said the situation was the same just stated that we know how hard it is replacing Saban. Doesn’t matter what the roster looks like ,what matters is that Saban is gone and all he brings to the program. Sure you can give him an office like we did Skip but he won’t be making Final decisions at the end of the day.

Got news for Downs, at a new school, he will be starting over as well with a whole new coaching staff.

True.

But he gets to choose which staff he wants coaching him.

It's painful, I know, but y'all need to accept that thee kids didn't go to Bama to play for the University and its fans. They went for the coaches.

A coaching staff that played for the Natty. He was a NFL player no matter which team he plays for. He quit on his teammates.

If it was me I would rather sit behind my desk at my home in Miami than a desk furnished by the University at Bryant Denny Stadium.

Saban is a 72 year old that coached 17 years at bama. Caleb will play 3 years of college. So its a lil different. He quit on the guys he took the field with , that put in the work to win the SEC. The coach that was hired played foe the Natty for goodness sake. He took the easy route he turned his back on his teammates for something he’ll have either way $.

So if we exclude 40 years of our last 70, we've got 1. Got it. I think another poster already destroyed this argument, but keep hoping in one hand and shitting in another. Bama is southern football, we created it, and we will sustain it. Hear me now baw, and believe me later.

Funny, I don’t remember Bama fans sharing the same sentiment when Gibbs, Burton, Ricks, etc., transferred in

LSU fans feel your pain in every way. We have been through this and saw first hand how hard it is replacing Saban. I think the irony is lost on most Bama fans. There might be another Saban out there but he isn’t coaching in college yet

It’s going to be worse for Bama. There was no NIL nor potential dynasties emerging from his own methodologies when he left lsu.

Hell Kirby smart would have 3 peated had Saban retired a year earlier.

Ain’t lookin good for the Alabama huskies

That is why Kirby emphasizes that the training at UGA is all about learning what leads to being successful at the next level.

The only real difference between minor league baseball and college football is that the football recruits have a choice about where they will go for the best opportunity to increase their knowledge and develop their skills.
