Love how AU has been labeled "cheaters".

If an FBI investigation alongside an NCAA investigation clears the Newton family and you still refer to Auburn as cheaters as you have said you plan too, well, that's just silly.

so if you can get a $200 textbook that a friend needs for free, you dont really think that the friend would pay $50 for it and then you would turn it in later.

Ah, didn't realize that the textbook thing was an all-sport thing?
What about the Logan Young/Albert Means thing?
Just sayin...

1958 - Bryant is hired, Auburn goes on Probation
1970s - Alabama wins 8 SEC titles, and three national titles and Auburn goes on probation
1992 - Alabama wins national title
1993- Auburn goes on probation
2009 - Alabama wins national title
2010 - ?
Do you notice a trend?

You do have 7 major infractions since 1957, including a football and basketball infraction in the last 20 years. I've seen cleaner (not in the mirror obviously... just in general).

The NCAA doesn't. You know who that is right? The association with its head neck deep up Auburn's arse?

You are most likely correct. UA and the NCAA identified 21 "willful" offenders (including 7 football players) who had apparently intentionally manipulated the system. In the best case, they were hooking up friends, girlfriends, etc. In the worst case, they were renting the books out for a semester at a reduced rate.
In all fairness, though, the other 180 or so athletes were simply given workbooks, study guides, and the blue testing booklets that were listed as "optional" course requirements, and therefore not covered by the scholarship.

It is what it is. Auburn and Alabama (and most of the SEC) don't run historically clean programs. I'm not sure why we point fingers about it. We should all point at USC and act shocked instead.

Interesting first post. You basically stated Alabama's report to the NCAA verbatim.

The most penalized institution in the NCAA...i think the moniker fits quite well.

The Albert Means thing is the one time Alabama got in trouble for cheating. We did cheat. We got caught. We deserved to be punished. I don't blame fulmer for it, because what we did was wrong(however I am pissed that tennessee was bidding for Means too and fat frick fulmer was covering his fat arse by being a "secret witness").
The textbook thing was not cheating. It was athletes that took advantage of the flawed distribution system. The NCAA investigated it. No money was earned from the books and they were all returned at the end of the year.
