When Alabama came out in the third quarter of the LSU game, they ran the ball down our throats and scored the first two possessions of the third quarter. They didn’t do that in the first half or the fourth quarter as much.

If bama still ran the ball like that every game, along with the spread passing game mixed in, they would be unstoppable. They have giant linemen and great running backs. They just don’t pound the ball anymore and as a LSU fan, I’m damn glad they don’t.

Not trying to kick Auburn while they are down, but that was a rivalry/fluky win.

I love how Auburn has had the most success against Bama (outside of Clemson) since Saban started, but it's a fluke

I don’t think there is a doubt they are one of the 10 best teams on the field. The only issue was they failed their only tests, so if you go by resume, they might fall short of 10.

I caveated baw. Rivalry plays a huge part in this. I give the devil his due. But the pick six that bounces off just right? The one second FG? Damn, I want to go to the casino with Auburn fan when he is hot.

There wasn't a great #4 this year. Sometimes there's 4 great teams, sometimes there's only 3 or 2. Of course, sometimes that 2nd great team is the #4 team.

I don't know if we'll ever see a 2017 playoff again, where all 4 teams were really good and every game was a good game. Two overtime games, and the closest to a "blowout" was Alabama over Clemson by 18. Nothing like last year, with Notre Dame losing in the first round by 27, or this year with Oklahoma losing by 35.

I don't think it is always a "fluke", though the bounced FG off the uprights wasn't because of anything Auburn did.

That said, I will say that Auburn keeping Gus is actually saying, "We found a coach who can occasionally beat Alabama. That's worth more to us than finding a coach that wins championships." Sort of like being the anti-LSU.

Frankly, losing that game probably was beneficial for us in the final rankings. What would they have done with us if we were undefeated going into SECCG weekend and ranked 3/4 along with Clemson and still lost by the same amount? Put us at 4th and face off against LSU a second time in the same stadium? It was pretty clear that outside of the top 3 teams, most everyone else was pretty flawed. It's the #1 reason I disagree with expanding the playoffs. You're including teams that frankly don't belong, and no amount of "getting hot at the right time" will offset that they frankly don't belong.

I agree completely with your argument. I think you get in as (at least) the #4 seed and there is the chance we play again the following week. Very awkward. Also a chance that if Alabama does not lose to Auburn (again, playing the “what if” game) that they would have gotten the #4 seed. Damn crazy season.

Bama is Top 10 only if Tua was Healthy.

I was pulling hard for them Against Michigan who I cannot stand and also for SEC Cred!

Bama's defense was very average in that game. They kept giving up Big plays on 3rd down. Gave up a lot of Yardage to a very Middle of the Road Michigan team. Sean Patterson was terrible on deep throws.

Tua made up for a lot of that, he would give Bama the lead by two scores and gets teams in desperation mode similar to what LSU does .

Bama should finish 8th or 9th.

Tua they would be top 5

After watching all the bowl games, it is pretty obvious that Alabama was the 4th best team after all. Maybe Oregon.

Lol. This would be considered a great year at like 90% of schools. Lost to the #1 team by 5. Lost to a rival by 3 and blew everyone else out.

Trust me about this, we learned this at LSU in 2003 and it's held true since then:

Once you get a taste of that golden nectar that brings you a natty, and then you get another one within a few short years, you get the idea that you're entitled to it and that life is going to be like this from here on out. Anything less than a natty isn't good enough to feed the craving, and anything less than CFP playoffs is completely unacceptable.

Bama had a really long run of being THE national contender for nearly a decade. Bama's fans got used to it. There's nothing wrong with that apart from the fact that those inevitable off years are more than a little frustrating.

I think Bama is still one of the top four programs in the country, even without Tua. That team from Tuscaloosa is still a force to be reckoned with.

I agree, that 90% of other schools (maybe even 99%) would consider Bama's 2019 season a complete success, but When you've been the alpha dog for such a long time settling for anything less is unthinkable. And I'm sure that (if LSU can win it all this year) all of us Bayou Bengal fans are gonna be insufferable for the next several months and into the next football season. shite, you think we're a pain in the arse on this board now? Just wait to see how that gets worse by an infinite magnitude if we beat Clemson!

After all I've seen this year in bowl season, I believe that Bama was absolutely one of the best four teams in college football, even with two losses. At the worst, I'd have them tied with UGA for that spot.
