What am I missing? Yes I know when these threads are made the opposite always wins. Memphis will probably win by 10 now but I just have a hard time understanding this line. Memphis is not a good basketball team and Penny is not a good coach. He gives me a Johnny Jones vibe.

They've got a frickton of talent, but lack leadership and coaching. They can definitely upset some teams on sheer talent alone.

Memphis is at home and backed into a corner. If they are ever going to show up and play their best game then it will probably be tonight. They've also not been terrible on neutral/home floor (beat WKU, beat St Louis, beat VT, lost by 2 to a good Murray team). They have boatloads of talent.

Alabama just played maybe the most physical game they will play all year 48 hours ago. They've just had possibly the biggest back to back wins in a decade. Everyone has been talking about how pathetic Memphis has been so far this season.

It's a pretty clear trap game. The game will either go down to the wire or Memphis will fold early and it'll be a blow out.

Wonder if they will play as well as they did against us, or how they’ve played against anyone else.

They will turn the ball over 16+ regardless

They've also weirdly either played well on offense and bad on defense or well on defense and bad on offense the past 3 games

Georgia - 117.4 adjusted O (good), 116.5 adjusted D (terrible)

Ole Miss - 94.1 adjusted O (terrible), 91.9 adjusted D (good)

Murray State - 113.7 adjusted O (good), 104.6 adjusted D (bad)

I need Memphis to win so they don't come in extra angsty on Saturday against Tennessee.

Teams like Memphis that are poorly coached and rely on athleticism and emotion and all that stuff to get them ready to play generally play much better at home vs a good team than on the road against a bad team with the environment of a funeral home.

It may not matter, but I'm guessing we get whatever is the best they have in their tank. That might still be pretty bad because they have systemic problems, but we'll see.

Memphis is not short on talent. It is just a matter of putting it together. Plus, it's a home game and t-shirt night, so who doesn't want a free shirt with a top 10 team in town

Add in desperation mode for the Tigers and Bama having played 2 tourney teams in the last 10 days with a quick turn to this game after a hard fought win vs UH, and Memphis has a shot to knock off the Tide easily

Sorry for your loss. You should tell Houston because they even know the call was right now.

No worries, it's a road game. That no call on goal tending was bullshite.

Almost cost Bama the game had it not bounced out and got swatted away cleanly by Bama. Damn refs trying to frick over Bama basketball at home, again.
