Not sure if a great hire but it's a name hire. That is a good step. I just want to see how he can recruit and impliment a system with time restrictions.

Also can he temper his expectations to reality.

This reminds me of the Kiffin hire and every idiot poster on tRant, most of whom are in this thread, lined up to tell us what a disaster of a hire it was going to be.

Would Kentucky or Duke hire AJ? No they wouldn't. The people who think this is a great hire probably take into account what bammer basketball is. I could see people thinking wasn't a terrible hire for a shite program like Bama basketball

How would you compare Alabama and Auburn's respective basketball programs?

Attempting to knock Bama at the expense of your own team. Bama owns Auburn in basketball. Series is is 93-58.

Alabama is not basketball royalty. All Bama fans would agree.

Difference between the Kiffin hire and this hire is Johnson has no history coaching college ball. He could easily be a colossal bust, but if he's successful he'll jump right back to the NBA. Best case scenario with this hire is you're searching for another coach in 3 years or he's just good enough to not get fired or hired away.

I would be ok with this. That means he turned us around in very little time and will be leaving us in much better shape.

You have no real idea what will hapen. Even if it does our program is in much better shape and better positioned to attract top talent.

Same shite was said about Saban. Nobody knows what will happen but I like our chances with AJ and I'm damned pumped about Bama Hoops again!

Grant really sucked the life out of the program. I was really surprised by that.
