Avery was not a slam dunk hire.

They were all in to get Gregg Marshall, but you saw how that played out.

They had the money to spend and Avery was available. Definite risk since he was not a college guy.

Forbes might be the next great thing, but he hasn't done anything to prove that yet. Too many times schools go after the next shinny object and then have to do it again 5 years later. AU did it for years and some of the time the Coaches were not even shinny.

Just asking what Bama fans think will happen if they fired Avery. Because there are very few slam dunk options for a program at their level. Avery was as close to that at the time of his hire, did he all of a sudden forget how to coach ?

Nobody thinks there is a slam dunk option out there.

Than why would you be so eager to make the change ? How many of those loses would have been wins with another quality player ? 23-8 would have Bama Fans excited right now and there is a very thin line for those 6 loses that would make that difference.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. 4 years same thing... He is going to get a 5th, but that will be it.

Enjoy it one more year, then maybe we get worse or maybe they get better. Either way at least they tried.

Because the current option is bad and when that is the case you move on to another option. Why do you purposely act like this?

Wanting to move on from Avery is perfectly logical.

IP is the game where you ask Bama fans who we’d like to see as the next head coch and then you tell us why each one sucks or is impossible to hire?

Ya know what SOG, frick him and his trollery, you don’t owe him an answer.

...because he's so jealous of Alabama (especially of taking a backseat to them in the eyes of the public) that he can't stand it..............plus flying teachers have a lot of time on their hands, so...

Just trying to figure out what Bama Fans are thinking. Do I think there is a person on this site that will make a decision on the future of the program ? Hell no. Just want to find out fan logic.

He's not getting fired. He's gonna go 10-21 next year ala Johnny Jones.

I see him as basically a Stansbury level coach. Good recruiter, meh coach that's going to get enough talent to make the post season every year. Tbh until something is done with Coleman that's pretty much the ceiling for Alabama hoops imo. There is always the possibility that one of the up and comers is the next Izzo but that's a long shot. I know the AD has to try or he'll lose the fanbase but that's my honest opinion. Continuing to waste money trying to make Coleman serviceable just isn't going to get it done or attract the type of players and coaches it takes to compete at the highest level.

Stansbury went to 6 NCAAT in a 8 year stretch. He won a SEC Title. He won 20+ games for 8 out of 9 years from 2002 to 2010.

If Avery was doing was Stansbury did we'd be very happy.

The difference in going 18-14 every year and Tom Izzo is a chasm the size of Mariana Trench.

We think Avery has shown us his ceiling and hasn't shown any signs of improvement.

We want to move on, knowing there is a risk whoever we hire is a total dumpster fire (ala Tony Barbee), but we also know that there is a chance they end up being very good (ala Chris Beard), with a much higher chance they are pretty good but not great.

That risk is a risk we are all willing to take. That's the logic.

Airbnb, what do I have to be jealous of in this case? I think you have spent too much time holding jimdog's jock that you have lost touch with reality. Have the kids returned to your condo for Spring Break ? All that partying must be giving you sleep deprivation. All that R Kelly, Cardi B and Drake music is probably driving someone like you to your wits end.

Sorry SkyKing but I don't live at my condo. I live in my home in Pensacola and spend time at my condo when I feel like it. I'll let the spring breakers have the beach for a while and I'll be at the golf course.

Auburn basketball was so dead before Bruce Pearl and after Cliff Ellis that getting them to a 4-seed and a 6/7-seed in two consecutive years is almost John Wooden-esque.

IronsPuppet, trying to make excuses for our mediocre b-ball coach like he’s been doing for Gus Malzhan?

Screw this shite, some fans may be fine sitting around with a middling HC rather than cut bait and take a risk, not Bama fans.

Neither Avery Johnson OR Gus Malzhan have shown they have the ability to change or improve.
