Who will they get ?

Rick Pitino. If he wants to slay puss on the bar at an Italian restaurant, I would suggest DePalma’s.

With an $8,000,000 buyout, as much as it pains me to say ....

You might be right .

Why not pay him the buyout? It reduces to 5M next year? and he'll make about 3M coaching next year. Only reason to not buyout the contract is there is confidence he can put the program where it's wanted or you're happy with the way it is.

I think Avery is solid considering the hate from the Gumps that he gets. Better than Anthony Grant for sure.

He's not better than him at all really

Anthony Grant
6 seasons
117-85 (57.9%)
54-49 SEC (52.4%)
1 NCAAT
3 NITs

Avery Johnson
4 seasons
74-60 (55.2%)
34-38 SEC (47.2%)
1 NCAAT
3 NITs

Merciful heavens. That's the worst contract in the history of collegiate sports if he has an $8M buyout. LOL! But that won't stop the firing. Alabama has got means in a very large fashion. Only problem is what BB coach get's that kind of buyout. He obviously has a great atty. I'm hiring that guy if I get in a tight.

Here's an even better one

Avery Johnson
4 seasons
74-60 (55.2%)
34-38 SEC (47.2%)
1 NCAAT
3 NITs

Johnny Jones (through year 4)
4 seasons
80-51 (61.1%)
40-32 SEC (55.6%)
1 NCAAT
1 NIT (2 if they hadn't declined the 2nd)

Good grief. Didn’t realize Avery was that close to Johnny Jones. Bama can do better

That's what I'm selling the Pelicans on in my daily email blasts titled "Avery 4 GM #bringhimhome"

He definitely recruits above the threshold to be NCAAT contenders and put together SEC runs. He doesn't recruit at the "Talent will cover my coaching shortfalls" level.

This will be the fourth straight year he has taken them to the post-season. That hasn't been done since Wimp was there.

What are you smoking?

Gottfried went to 7 consecutive postseasons. 5 consecutive NCAAs.
