I have to admit, I’m a little surprised that State fans are trying to deny this. Why? Admitting it has no negative repercussions.

I would postulate the player in question meant more to MSU than LSU ergo their offer was higher.
Not all players are equally desirable in the eyes of their prospective buyers.
Likewise, Jimbo isn't worth as much to us or FSU as he is in the eyes of Aggy.
Just because you have loads of money doesn't mean you should go and spend it foolishly by overpaying or buying things that don't improve your overall value.
