How will Auburn fans handle winning a national championship, compared to those fans of Alabama, Florida & LSU? Will they be more "rub it in your face" and drag the accomplishment further into the future? Or will they settle down and just be proud of a past achievement---being more concerned about the most current team?

They are now even more hungry to gain their big brother's respect.

You will have both within the fan base... As of now, we are just enjoying the victory... But clearly some of the Bama old statements do not hold true... They now have to share the club with Florida and LSU, they did not like it, but learned to accept it... Now Auburn is in the Club... The race is on to see who in the SEC gets number 2 first or will LSU or Florida get to 3 BCSNC sooner. My guess is that LSU wins it this year...

BTW-love going to Baton Rouge, even when we get drilled... I like LSU fans, they are passionate and love their football and we both hate Bama...

Like myself when LSU won in 03 it probably hasn't sunk in yet. I'm sure they will enjoy it fully as they should, and then go back to the one uping of big brother.

no rubbing it in anyones face here. I am prod of my boys, and will savor it - just like I did the Saints SB win last year. no need for me personally validate our win against other teams success, as I don't get that worked up over rivalries and such.

Why should we let them enjoy it? They have never let anyone else enjoy theirs. When other teams have won one, all they could do was talk about how they played them(Florida), how they were cheated in their game(LSU), and of course how Bama shouldn't have been there, and oh if Colt had been in the whole game, and the years of whining about the 2004 season. Auburn fans didn't care enough even to chant SEC, even though if it weren't for Mike Slive they wouldn't have been there, but they can't seem to understand why the majority of the nation is not happy for them. Auburn got away with what most schools have been punished severly for, and people are just not happy about that. They have players that play dirty, and coaches that encourage it, but make a big production against it while on camera. I hope Auburn doesn't get to enjoy anything about this year. I hope Cam leaves, and I hope the NCAA/FBI is constantly on their campus, so at least they will be worried the entire year that it will be taken away from them, but can you imagine the whining we'd have to hear then.

My guess is it will be like every other fanbase. There will be some douches and some that handle with extreme class and everything in between. Also, other SEC fan bases will be the same toward AU fans. There is very little difference between rabid fan bases no matter who they cheer for. They each just use different talking points depending on what places their favorite school in the best light.

It still doesn't even feel like they won cause I never thought Oregon had a chance even when it was tied I just never felt like they were gonna win.

For some reason, I have a very short memory. I love it that we won, but I am ready to talk about recruiting. What other 5 stars can we take from bama?

I just like reading the post from gumps, they are in full on Baghdad Bob mode. Deny it ever happened. I know they feel threatened but damn try to keep your composure a little huh?

(yes I know it is not all gumps, just the vocal portion.)

I'm still kind of in disbelief, frankly.

Things played out far differently than what I expected. I figured we would go undefeated, win the SECC going away, and be ranked #1 with a berth in the BCSCG - not this year, but in 2012.

Then the Mayan calendar would expire on 12/21/12, and the world would end. And I would look up at the last moment and mutter, "Typical Barner luck."
