The only D stat that matters any more is scoring.

Auburn 17 ppg

LSU 20 ppg

While this is an edge for Auburn when you compare our O to LSU's it likely isn't enough of an advantage.

Points allowed by the defense:

Auburn - 120
LSU - 124

If our D wasn't giving the ball to the O on the plus side of the field about 5 times a game we wouldn't sniff 34 points a game.

Did you subtract the 14 points vs Vandy the LSU defense had nothing to do with?

Probably not. So take away 2 ppg from that 20 and you’ll be more accurate.

Since you’re a lifelong AU fan I’ll take your word.

The problem with stats in general is you can't see the variables.

Auburn has given us 45 points this year playing prevent D or allowing back ups to play. I believe our D is better than LSU's but I predict our O will leave our D out to dry and they won't look like it this week against LSU.
