I get you are trolling Auburn, but what a lot of people don't realize is that 6 of Auburn's losses were by 7 or fewer points.

Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Missouri
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Alabama

Of the 6 lost by 7 or fewer points, 3 are probably going to be in the playoffs and one was on the cusp. Then Georgia (#3 in country) only beat Auburn by 10 points. A break here or there, and Auburn would look very different.

I’ve been screaming this from the rooftop throughout the season. Auburn is a better team than their record suggests.

It would be the most Auburn thing ever for them to go to a bowl game against a really shitty 6 win team & beat the brakes off of them with their new staff.

Darth_Vader will be starting threads comparing Alex Golesh to Shug Jordan.

Golesh has been around less than a week and he has closer to a bowl game than Freeze in two years

So you’re saying they were “so close?”

The facts would seem to indicate that their roster was pretty good and the coaching let them down. A few breaks here or there and those six losses could have been wins. But, nobody gets all the breaks all the time, but say just three of those games went the other way and now they are 8-4 and looking very respectable. On the other hand, they would still have Freeze, so it may have worked out for the best for them.

Mark Richt won about 74% of his games at Georgia and was fired

But, I really doubt if teams play a game "just enough to win".

Absolutely, but sometimes IF the other offense is struggling, play calling in a given situation may evolve due to game flow.

We competed, mostly, but we were often inept and impotent on offense.

Bama won because we screwed up more than they did and they made some good plays at key moments. That’s how close games are won or lost.

Limit turnovers and penalties and you have a better shot at the end.

Need to identify your playmakers, call plays for them, and compete.

I agree, they are better or more talented than the record would suggest. Which means it should be easy to turn this program around with real coaching.
Right now Auburn is full of a loser mentality. They found ways to lose this year. That is what makes me so excited for the new coach. Sure we may lose talent to the portal but we need to get that "close" bs out of this program

Watching that game gave a lot of people tAIDS.

And, epidemiologically, you would know this…how? Did your MD tell you this after your examination? The CDC wants to know.

I appreciate you saying this as a Georgia fan. I attended all 7 of those games in person.

Auburn could have or should have won
Oklahoma
Vanderbilt
Missouri
Georgia
Alabama

Never really had a shot during the game from my POV
KENTUCKY
A&M

A&M really wasn’t as close as the final score. We had a defensive play for 65 yards that setup the lone TD from the 3 late in the game. Offense couldn’t move the ball

Same with Kentucky absolutely terrible offense. I accident grabbed some THC 50 mg drink think it was a flavored water so watching that game was interesting

Haven’t bought a Phil Steele annual in several years but seem to remember one of his stronger indicators of yearly improvement was the number of close losses the year before.
