QB - Clemson. Both QBs are new and Bryant had a better showing, but there were circumstances around Stidham's performance, mainly being the offense being focused around Pettway's running ability. Well he didn't play and Auburn's offense couldn't get into a rhythm. Could be totally different with that presence. Still like Clemson's QB better. Dabo knows how to develop a QB.

RB - Auburn. Their whole offense is based around power running and they do it well. With a fresh, healthy Pettway I think Auburn will control this aspect of the game. Will it look like GT vs. Tennessee? No, but they will be able to keep Clemson's defense off balance allowing for the passing game to open up.

WR - Toss up. Clemson keeps play makers at this position and Auburn has been able to load up on back in the 2016 class. Although they were nothing stellar last season due to Sean White's gimpy shoulder, Auburn's WRs have a chance to prove themselves deadly with Stidham at the helm. If Bryant proves himself to be a Watson clone like Clemson faithful think, lord help us all.

OL - Auburn. No real discussion needed. They have the returning starters and the experience. Clemson's looked to be very solid(from what I saw) on Saturday. The true battle is OL vs DL. I think that in itself is a toss up.

DL - Clemson. Both have 5*s on the line. Clemson seems to develop their guys alot better though. This can't be argued since Clemson has sent several to the draft in the first round in recent years and Clemson hasn't had a recruiting class in the top 10 since Dabo has been there . Talk about getting the most out of what you put in.

LB - ???????

DB - Auburn. Auburn fans will argue that Carlton Davis is the return of Carlos Rogers, but I just don't see it. Davis is good, but not a world beater. I don't know how good Clemson's secondary really is, but I do know that they got burned by N.C. State and Pitt last season so the potential to strike through the air against Clemson is there.

ETA:

K - Auburn. Legatron

P - Toss up

Coaching - Clemson. Dabodoo

Fair enough. I would put QB at toss up at this point. I don't know about Clemson's LBs, but this our best squad in over a decade. Love them.

Left off four important categories.

Coaching- Clemson

FG - Auburn with Legatron.

Punter - ?

Returner - ?

Both defenses are stout and the game will come down to the above 4 categories..

It's been a short while since we won a game this big. On paper I think people realize its a pretty good matchup. Off the paper, until Gus can prove we're consistently capable, you won't convince me we're not significant dogs in this game.

Not saying AU has the advantage at LB, but this is the deepest and most talented LB unit since Tuberville.

Where are the Clemson posters to weigh in on Clemson's LBs? My guess is they're already dealing with lines of customers at Sbarro

AU's defense will drain the crowd atmosphere and stidham + Johnson(if healthy)/Pettway will find a way to expose clemson.
Think AU 24-16

I didn't watch Clemson play but I heard Dabo today. He said his punter punted once last week for 49 yards. He said he has exceptional special teams, and they emphasize them in practice more than most teams. Considering their athletes, I would expect a push on the return game. My best guess based on both teams being about even athletically.

Unfortunately, Johnson is out. However, Kam Martin is a stud and Malik Miller is solid.

This is what Auburn has to do to win the game. They have to shorten it significantly. They have to GT this thing.

Right now, I could not comment on the DB's. We did not get any work at all. I like Carlton Davis but he is really the only known guy.

As for Linebackers, I cant see Clemson having a better linebacker group. IT is probably our best position on Defense right now. Finally

Tre Williams is a beast

Agreed. I said in another thread that I thought Auburn was under more pressure to win this than Clemson. If we win it we immediately get vaulted into the national conversation, and if we lose it and look bad people will say "same old Gus".

If Clemson wins it, they will stay in the National conversation, and if they lose it, Dabo has built up enough consistency for it not to make a big difference.

The secondary could be Clemsons weakness. It's been masked because Venebles can use the front 4 to pressure without blitzing. If AU can protect and Clemson has to send a LB, I can see Stidham carving up the middle of the field. If not, I see Clemson winning.

True

At this point Dabo's legend just continues to grow. The dude blanked Meyer in the playoffs. Saban hasn't even done that. Not to mention he is undefeated against him, 2-0. If Clemson wins they will certainly be the front runner for the playoffs.

I unfortunately didn't see anything against GASO that wold convince me our O line can do that against Clemson.

OL is a toss up IMO. We have 4 of 5 back, Mitch Hyatt will be a top 10 pick and Tyrone Crowder is All ACC.

At least with Tubberville you would get this type of win almost every year, even though the next week he would fall flat on his fricken' face against someone like Arkansas. Gus hasn't done jack squat in 3 years, time to make it or break it.

I see it ending up a 24-21 type game either way. Both defensive fronts are very good. I dont see either offense moving at will. It will come down to big plays. Whoever has more without turning it over wins a close one.

Clemson has Kendall Joseph (34) who had a really good game against Auburn last year and Dorian O'Daniel (6) returning. And Tre Lamar (57) is the new starter, I believe he was a 4 star. He's a true sophomore, he's a big help in the run game. All are really good athletes, have made some really big plays in really big moments

Lamar played a good bit in the national championship and a lot on special teams during the year. Clemson is expecting a lot from him
