I just don't understand all the violence. Is it that so much violence is in video games and the media that a generation can't separate that violence from reality? Is it the violence applauded in music? I am beginning to wonder if all the additives in foods is affecting peoples' brains. Whatever the cause, this is ridiculous and very, very heart wrenching.
It's the culture these kids are raised in. Zero father figure leads to various respect issues, government ensures they don't have to hold a job, and the surroundings they're raised in guarantee zero internal peace with themselves or God. It's sad, really.

Awful situation all the way around. I hope the families of those lost eventually find peace and comfort. This type of thing is senseless and occurs far too often.

Don't understand why everyone turns to a gun every time there's a fight. When we were growing up, we slung a few fists, took our lumps, gave a few lumps and everyone recovered. Now someone feels "disrespected", they shoot you. Unbelievable.

Whether or not the people who got shot threw the first punch is irrelevant. Using a gun in that situation, 9/10, is "unnecessary escalation of force". You have to have substantial reason to believe your life is in danger to even brandish a weapon. You cannot pull your gun if someone punches you once or twice.
It gets iffy with the bottle thing due to the fact broken glass could be considered a lethal weapon (bit of a stretch, depends on circumstances) and then the gun would not be escalating the force.
Basically, its going to depend on the witnesses.
Prayers to the families of those involved and the wounded. Hope they catch the thugs and administer whatever punishment the law will allow.

Exactly. And one report I read said a group of ppl got in an argument, and one dude decided to hit ppl over the head with bottles. Senseless. When I was growing up ppl would get in fights and ppl would break it up. No weapons were ever involved. You either whip arse or get your arse whipped and leave it that. These retards pull out guns and shoot everyone in the place.

Because their role models, the guys that make the horrible music they listen to, preach that kind of stupidity. Its not that they don't have role models, its that the role models they have are horrible and spew stupidity out with every phrase.

have heard lately that auburn is not a very safe to live...sad to hear about the victims.
Before I chose Oklahoma St. (I know, I know) I seriously considered Auburn. I just got a vibe that I wouldn't like living there by myself for a few years. It just seemed like there were more places around town and Opelika that you wouldn't want to go, that you could get yourself in a bad situation. However, everywhere is like that, was just more than I was expecting down there.
*prayers for the families

He's tweeting a lot of details, and he's tweeting with someone how got shot at the party too.
And IIRC Reuben Foster and Lamichael Fanning are Phillips' cousins too...

Because their role models
They are just a bunch of pussy arse bitches. They are afraid they might get hurt and gonna show someone, by shooting them, who's boss. Ain't afraid of no one.
If they considered themselves real men they wouldn't be fighting in the first place and if it resulted in an altercation they would stand toe to toe.
I am a firm believer in carry laws, but it is a bunch of pansies like this that ruin our society and the rights we hold. Too many people get their feelings hurt and show someone who's boss.

Read on a scout board that Phillips was shot after he jumped on 1 gunmen. A second gunmen shot him. fricking coward bastards, Phillips was a hero.

I'm from Opelika originally and honestly, a lot of all that stuff is overblown. It's not nearly as bad as it was 10-15 years ago.
As for Auburn, you hardly hear of anything bad happening, much less a shooting. I feel (felt) perfectly safe walking all across town at 12:00-2:00 in the morning.

some people are just ignorant fricks. Auburn has always been one of the safest places to live in the country. Hell, a few years ago is was ranked 6th best cities to live in in the country (i'll try and find the article). Now that a tragedy like this happens, it is all of a sudden not safe and "has some shady areas". I guess he doesn't realize that the University Heights apartments are actually pretty damn nice.
These people need to get a life.

I'd be willing to bet he wasn't carrying legally. It's the ones wanting to rid themselves of guns that ruin the rights we hold.
