Good question. Let’s ask Jimbo Fisher and see what he has to say.

As an Arkansas fan - LOVE IT!

As a CU alum and fan - I don’t really like what you’re implying.

It’s called “gap”. Have you learned nothing from the commercials?

He went to the PAC-12 because it’s easier to win there. He’d get embarrassed in the SEC. Everyone has talent here and his shoddy coaching would get exposed

Yeah, he will dominate the PAC12 with great recruits just like USC does year after year. Please. Gimmick hire. It could possibly work but it won't. It would have been hilarious to see him fail at Auburn though.

You HAVE to be able to actually coach in the SEC. We have no idea if he can.

That's why he's dropping coin on good coordinators. I think he'll set the general tone and direction, but give his coordinators quite a bit of latitude on gameday.

He went to the PAC 12 because he didn’t have any other offers and was desperate to leave JSU. Herm Edwards 2.0. His act is going to wear thin soon. He’s dragging along D2 kids and coaching buddies. Auburn dodged a bullet with this clown (unfortunately).

No you don't, not if you hire good coaches around you.

You have to have the ability to control/manage/direct. See: Ed O, Gene Chizik, etc.

Deion will be initially successful, most likely. But he’s about to deal with a talent level he’s never dealt with (as a coach), including those egos and bad behavior, etc. How he’s able to manage that and continue to lead will be telling.

Starstruck HBCU players having Deion as a surrogate father is one thing. How he handles assistants and players who think they are the next Deion is going to be another.

Until they go 5-7 again with prime at HC. Then these magic recruits will go elsewhere.
5-7 is a big upgrade for Colorado. They’ve had 1 season in 15 years over 5 wins. They haven’t even gotten to 5 2/3 of the time.

They were 1-11 this year.

I was happy he didn’t go to Auburn…say what you want about his “act” he is a smart guy who knows football, would be able to recruit like crazy and would let his assistants do all the heavy lifting…
I think he will continue to successful

How can “let your assistants do all the heavy lifting” be a good thing? Basically you’re saying “let the real coaches handle it and let the cheerleader recruit”.

That’s not a very solid plan for a program like Auburn. Prime is just a step up version of caddy. Both may very well end up being solid coaches one day but getting a HC job at one of the B6 schools in the SEC West this early would be a disaster more likely than not.

The coaching buddies thing could be a problem, but the kids that he's bringing are going to be pretty good ones. Also, there are rumors that a lot of portal guys are reaching out to him. He could bounce quite a few current players to make room for some good transfers, so I don't think lack of talent is going to be a problem. If he can use his notoriety to assemble a team, then let his coordinators do the rest, he could be successful.
