No the ncaa did, otherwise they would have had USC forfeit
Oklahoma was ranked ahead of Auburn before the ncg, so if USC had been disqualified before that game, Oklahoma would have been ranked #1 and Auburn #2. The game between Oklahoma and Auburn never occured so the final ranking would be Oklahoma #1 and Auburn #2.

Imagine this scenario: (assume teams could still play to a tie)

USC and Oklahoma are ranked #1&2, while Auburn is #3. USC and Oklahoma play each other to a 10-10 tie. Now, the polls come out and rank USC and Oklahoma as co-national champions and Auburn still at #3. How would you handle that outcome?

You got any idea how stupid and narrow minded that sounds?
Also, you didn't comment on my scenario with the hypothetical tie....and please don't deflect...makes you look bad.

It's not a deflection by any means and why comment on a hypothetical scenario? Again, we are not dealing with ifs, its fact. USC vacated, Oklahoma has a loss, Auburn does not. This is the rationale, there are no ifs or assumptions. I think some of you guys are lost in the rationale of why jj says he wants to include them.

You are so full of shite, your eyes are brown. I believe you got a little Obama in you.

And you STILL haven't addressed my scenario, because you know that it actually happened to Alabama in 1966 when Notre Dame and Michigan St. tied each other and were awarded co-national
championships while a 12-0 Alabama team(Coach Bryant said it was the best football team he'd ever coached) ended up at #3....so stop your bitching.

The funny thing is you can't even see it. Typical bama fan. But who know maybe you will actually see it. Probably not.

What the frick did you just say?...nothing. When somebody puts you on the money, you just babble around..saying absolutely nothing. Do you actually realize that there are other people on this forum reading the mumbo-jumbo you're typing?
You're sounding more and more like Barack.

Obama has nothing to do with the conversation.

As to the national title claims, this doesn't change the legitimacy or illegitimacy of anything claimed by Alabama. It just means any auburn fan ranting about it is a damn hypocrite. PERIOD.

I wish my program didn't claim 1941. IMO, it's ridiculous. But they do, and we have be ridiculed about it. Now auburn fans can enjoy the same thing, and there's nothing that can say to change that.

I love how much this has upset the Bama fans. They are really mad about this. Its very ironic since several of their championships are very questionable as well.

I love how the auburn fans are trying so hard to play both sides of the fence - Alabama fans are ridiculous for claiming questionable national titles, but when auburn claims even more questionable national titles they aren't ridiculous, just rustling the jimmies of Bama fans.

The weird thing about aubs is that they are incredibly gracious winners. When they finally win something big, they don't rub it in your face or get arrogant like many of my fellow Bama fans. But they are pathetic when they lose. Rather than celebrating the most successful season in the SEC this year, they focus solely on discrediting Bama.

C'est la vie.

Congratulations on winning the national title this year. And on 2004, when you became the People's National Champions.

Do you get to count two championships this year for winning the first half of the BCS championship AND rustling Bama jimmies?

Personally, I'm happy. You have taken the one thing that makes me a little embarrassed about Alabama's athletic department, and taken it even one step further. Congrats on outdoing us at taking credit for what we didn't do.

1983? go for it. while not recognized by AP, they were actually recognized by more sources overall than miami. given all the factors in play occurring that season, there's no shame claiming that one.

2004? sure, hang a flag acknowledging that team in some way....but vacated titles notwithstanding, it'd be a desperate measure to claim a NC, despite what i think about how good the '04 team was.

the others? GTFO. i read up on those early seasons, and while auburn did post some impressive numbers that look good with the benefit of time passing, there were other teams that actually surpassed them in each of those seasons (albeit slightly). close, but no cigar. and 1993, the memories were nice, but let's be real.

so, long story short, if they HAVE to do this (which they don't), then give it to 1983 & walk away....

People don't understand that his is just a huge TROLL JOB by Auburn. They announce that they will look into claiming multiple championships like Alabama and then come out and say "Yeah, that is stupid. Alabama is retarded."

Well played Aubies. Well played.

I love that this is happening. Aubies don't know how to handle it.
