But, just wanted to mention . . .

The mighty Akron Zips . . .

2018 - 4-8 (lost the last 5)
2019 - 0-12
2020 - 1-5

So, that’s 1 win in their last 23 games. The win? Against winless Bowling Green.

Just keepin’ it real for ya’ll.

Trying to keep your slight hopes muffled as much as I can.

That’s what we do as real rivals.

Nobody is claiming anything based on Akron. They are judging the team based on what they saw from a 6-4 Gus lead team.

Hard to argue against facts. The boog's are back. Plain and simple.

so the team AU scored 60 On has only beaten the team that UT scored only 38 on? Hot damn, I just looked it up. The score was. 31-3. Sweet mercy Vols, I hope you don’t play Aubie this year.

Playing a team that would rank about 200 when you include FCS teams will do that.

Oh, the difference was night and day. No way Gus has Auburn as prepared and crisp as they were yesterday, even against Akron.

I'll be the first to admit that.

Well, yeah.

I doubt we learn much about the team before Week 3 at Happy Valley. Next week’s opponent would probably be closer to 300

However, this is the correct take:

We looked nothing like your multiple “Harsin is a shitty HC and underacheived bigtime at Boise” posts led me to believe.

Gus would have won, but half the fans would have been pulling their hair out, 25% would have just ignored it and 25 % are bald.

I’ll admit that Akron isn’t a great team or even a good team but typically we have not looked that good in game 1 even against a weak app opponent. Typically we are trying to “figure out what we have on offense” until game 3 or 4 of the season. That was not the case this year and was nice to see.

Does it mean we are going to win the west or anything? No. But we played game 1 better then we have played game 1 the last 3-4 years.

Yep. It might even have been a blowout, but I rather suspect it would've been uncomfortably close for an uncomfortably long time before Auburn's talent advantage eventually puts the game well out of reach.

The posts today would be more in line with firing him than 'the future is bright.'

No, you're right. It's a definite improvement.

You should worry more about what Auburn, and frankly most of the SEC, is going to do to Arky.

With gus the game is within one TD at halftime. We may even let them get the lead in the 3rd the finally pull away in the 4th after Gus has time to figure out what kind of offense we have (since evidently that can’t happen at practice).

Then in postgame he’ll say something like “boy we need to get the ball to soandso more next game”. Soandso gets the ball once in week 2.

Biggest difference I saw is the physical status of the team. Look at the difference from last year until now. Very few players who look like they are coming out of a HS program that doesn't have a weight room. Not one player I would describe as a fatass. Not true the last few years.
