Have no idea whether it was vanilla or just different from the 3 and outs Gus had us used too. In all seriousness what does the board think the score would have been had it been Gus coaching? I say 24 17 AU.

I think it would have been somewhat similar but with more gadget plays. Around 50-17 and with all starters going into the 4th quarter.

They had better find an offense before they attack.

I didn't watch it, so it may have been vanilla. But from what Auburn fans are saying - it wasn't.

Compared to a 6 play playbook Gus offense it wasn’t, if you call spreading the ball around to different weapons. But it was pretty basic.

But when you are winning the entire game with ease, it should be vanilla plays and getting playing time for as many players as possible.

Starters were all out by the first 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter.

That much is obvious.

Against an opponent like that, you don't show your hand, you play extremely vanilla and stick to the basics. Your overall talent should be more than enough to handle the game. Otherwise you are just giving your future opponents tape.
And this would benefit an entirely new staff in their first game exactly - how?

I didn’t see anything particularly exotic, unless you call a straightforward game plan executed competently “exotic” - which after 8 years of Gustav, is probably warranted.

Perhaps you care to point out where you got the impression that Harsin failed to use “basic coaching common sense”?

I think the Badgers have the better team and it is too early to jump to conclusions about PSU. The best team doesn't always win. Wisconsin had the kind of game that usually always leads to a win.

I'm not sure about Auburn's potential as well but Arky has their hands full with Texas. The current atmosphere on this board suggests it is the last team the Hogs want to lose to. Sorta like I do not want to lose to the Horns this year either.

You can only play who’s on the schedule. Auburn looked great.

It's funny how Auburn fans keep saying this, but this time last year you would have defended him equally as hard.

It’s funny how you keep saying things that indicate you don’t have a fricking clue about Auburn or its fans.

Maybe if things aren't going well you would break out some plays. But when you are winning the entire game with ease, it should be vanilla plays and getting playing time for as many players as possible.

Just basic coaching common sense really, I certainly didn't invent it.

brilliant logic!....

except you have a totally new O and D philosophy. Waiting until game 3, your first real test, to break out the new schemes is moronic. Give every team on your schedule something new every week to scheme for. That is just "basic coaching common sense".
