Auburn won the coaching hire sweepstakes
Really - Sumrall ran from the situation when Cohen started making staffing calls, Durkin being one of them.

It’s about to turn around once the propaganda campaign takes off…

Yes. Where were we ranked in early December?
Inside the top 10.
We dropped a little when Nathaniel Marshall flipped to Michigan.

This is based on message boards and bloggers. The same people said also said that Golesh was turned off by Durkin being pushed. Those same people then spent almost two days speculating if Durkin would agree to stay or not. So, which is it? Pick one scenario because both can't be right.
Auburn, surprisingly, ran a quiet and professional coaching search without the drama of others. You may disagree but it's not due to a forced DC.

Didn’t Cohen insist he have the final call on Sumrall’s staff? Isn’t that what soured the deal?
I assume Golesh agreed to let Cohen give finally approval on the staff

What message board did you glean this gem from?

All of them. Sumrall dropped out because he was told he would not have complete control of hiring his coaching staff.
Auburn demanded DJ Durkin remain. They couldn’t hire him as coach, but they wanted him as DC.

Sumrall never said that. His agent never said that. The University of Florida never said that.

Cohen never said that. Auburn's President never said that. Sumrall never said that.

If I was a UF fan I would be concerned with Sumralls judgement if taking on clearly one of,the best DCs in the nation was an issue, ….

Fool, we just had another shitty season, our HC got fired during it. You expected a top 10 class?

Durkin seems miffed: has attended any of Golesh’s public meetings. That will make for a great locker room.

He's been working his arse off these past few days trying to retain the recruits and current roster.

Golesh is a good coach. He’ll get it together

I remember back during the summer Auburn fans were saying just wait until August 1 and the recruiting floodgates were going to open lol.
