Ummmmm several SEC schools don’t have scholarship gymnastics. Neither MS school has gymnastics.

Does either have a swim program ? Woman's scholarship are just a counter to men's sports to meet title IX requirements. AU had to drop a top 10 Wrestling program because of it.

Yep and OU obviously has a top program. I know they get plenty of Texas talent, but I am sure they recruit nationwide these days.
In order to be competitive, national recruiting is critical in college gymnastics. Florida is currently the hottest SEC program with some insane recruiting classes coming in (Florida and UCLA will dominate college gymnastics in the coming years).

Also most women gymnast peak as teens. Their bodies start breaking down after that as they can't take the abuse that gymnastics training and performing inflict.

Trinity Thomas was competing for a spot on team USA before she got injured back in March.

One sport I wish all universities in the SEC would invest in.

Would require dropping a sport or picking up a woman's sport. I wonder what a transgender athlete counts toward in regards to Title IX ?

We just got one of the top gymnasts coming in with Suni and AU has always had a respectable top 15-20 program but never much better than that. Fans care and have attended well from what I’ve heard.

Next year will be a new level of gymnastics excitement though

tile IX just mean schools have to have the same amount of women's sports as there are men's sports

Nah.It just has to reflect the gender percentage at the school.

I imagine A&M has a higher percentage of men enrolled and it the reason they don't have gymnastics.

That has nothing to do with it.

From the NCAA Title IX rules

Which part of proportionate do you not understand?

Go through every sport at UGA and tell me what percentage of each is men and women. I will bet money it's 50/50

Q. How is Title IX applied to athletics?

Athletics programs are considered educational programs and activities. There are three basic parts of Title IX as it applies to athletics:

Participation: Title IX requires that women and men be provided equitable opportunities to participate in sports. Title IX does not require institutions to offer identical sports but an equal opportunity to play;
Scholarships: Title IX requires that female and male student-athletes receive athletics scholarship dollars proportional to their participation; and
Other benefits: Title IX requires the equal treatment of female and male student-athletes in the provisions of: (a) equipment and supplies; (b) scheduling of games and practice times; (c) travel and daily allowance/per diem; (d) access to tutoring; (e) coaching, (f) locker rooms, practice and competitive facilities; (g) medical and training facilities and services; (h) housing and dining facilities and services; (i) publicity and promotions; (j) support services and (k) recruitment of student-athletes.

The very first part of the link you provided.

either you can't read, or can't comprehend, what you are reading........dumbass.

Title IX, when it comes to athletics, is all about equality.

Dude I just showed you the compliance rules and you're still arguing.

You think a school that is 70% male has to provide the exact same amount of scholarships to to 30% of the females?

Athletic Depts would go broke.

It's absolutely equal opportunity based on the undergrad enrollment.

What part of that do you not get?

If it state funded, yes. You can't read and it is obvious you damn sure have no idea what you are talking about regarding this subject.

Go through every SEC school and see what percentage are men's sports and what percentage are women's sports. You will be shocked to find out it's 50/50.......at every school.

I will post again and read slowly

quote:

Provide participation opportunities for women and men that are substantially proportionate to their respective rates of enrollment

How can you not understand what this means?

Equal opportunity is provided based off RATES OF ENROLLMENT.

Show me one part of that link that says schools must provide the exact same number of scholarships for men and women?

You can't because it's not in there

Once again

quote:

Provide participation opportunities for women and men that are substantially proportionate to their respective rates of enrollment

It could not be any clearer and you still wanna argue.

Take the loss and move on.

I didn’t expect this but I think NIL is really going to help out college olympic sports programs because now the athletes don’t have to choose between college competition and endorsements.

Suni will be the first BIG olympic sport collegiate star. She may be going to Auburn but she represented this country well and I’m happy for her.
