I never in my life thought I'd see a Steele coached defense completely fail to make defensive adjustments after Fitzgerald continue to run up the gut over and over on them. Not one of those players adjusted and neither did Steele.

It was very hard to watch. It was like getting beat up by a retard and you just didnt want to stop it.

Don't give up hope. 6-6 is still possible.

Gus just doesn't have what it takes to win without a Cam Newton behind center. I just don't think they have that with freshman QBs.

2013 and 2017 say otherwise.

They are this year's Miss. State from a year ago except you don't know who their quarterback is. Lots of hype and tons of questions.

I don't know who Miss State's offensive playmakers were outside of Fitzgerald last year. But Auburn is as loaded on offense with playmakers as we have ever been. Seth Williams, Shaun Shivers, Boobie Whitlow, and Anthony Schwartz combined for a total of 23 touchdowns last year as freshman. All of them return as sophomores with a year of experience and SEC strength and conditioning and expected to take another step forward this year.

Nobody can tell you definitively that the OL won't struggle at times this year like they did last year or that the QB play from a freshman will be great. And if that is what it is going to take to change your mind, it's probably not going to happen. But I can tell you I am not scared, or think we don't match up well from a talent standpoint, with Florida, A&M, Oregon.

They have 2 losses already scheduled in Bama and Georgia

And finally as someone who was the DSOR and Iron Bowl in 2010, 2013, and 2017 I can promise you I'm not marking any of those as guaranteed losses at home.

You may want to rewrite that. A word missed changes your meaning

Haha yep just caught it.

Overall point being, Auburn has some question marks as does every team in the SEC, even UGA and Alabama. Granted those are easier to overlook with returning experienced QB's and 5 star talent all over the field. But Auburn should be great on defense, improved on OL, and loaded with playmakers on offense that are more experienced. I'm excited for this season, and NOT marking any as guaranteed losses. It's a brutally tough schedule, welcome to life in the SEC West.

Yea, I am not writing any losses down. But I am not expecting a 12 win season either.

Im not sure many teams could take our schedule right now and expect a 10 win season. Very few could

Im thinking this is a 3 loss team with the schedule unless things line up. We could be better than that

Gus calling the offense is the biggest possible difference maker. Next is possible is if Whitlow can break out at RB. Those 2 with a defense could make Auburn a surprise team.

Bama and UGA where so good 2 years ago and Auburn beat them both. Also there aren't 2 more teams on their schedule that are clearly better. I did pick us to go 9-3 but that's because you never know with Gus.

Would be nice if UGA played a schedule worth mentioning so they couldn't talk shite.

100% Agree Lanier, this is how I feel about the season as well. OLine and QB don't click, and we lose a couple early on, this could be a 7 or 8 win team, but I see that as the floor with this talent. Win a few of those games early on, and Gus hits his stride while the QB develops, this could be a fun season. I see 9-3 as the most likely middle ground.

Be nice if Auburn would ever beat their big brothers so we could call it a real rivalry again

UGA isn't a Big Brother to anyone. Congrats on your little steak against Auburn to hang your seasons on but even your big brother (GT) has won a NC since you.

Auburn has the best left tackle in the SEC (graded out as the best O-lineman period) and returns the rest of the OL...which was inconsistent but certainly should improve with another Spring and off-season S&C under their belt...as well as having the same OL coach in consecutive seasons. No, the depth is not proven but who has PROVEN depth on the OL? That's pretty hard to do. You can have talent but proven depth? Auburn's depth includes highly ranked Nick Brahms, So C/G that started several games last year, as well as about a dozen 4* guys that haven't gotten their shot yet. Auburn's O-Line concerns are next year, I assure you.

Loaded at WR, very deep at RB (although it's not known yet if there is a KJ or Tre Mason, or Ben Tate, etc... on the roster...but I bet there is), QB is the question. Will one of the two 5* guys on Auburn's roster be up to the task? If yes, Auburn will absolutely win more than 7 games...if the answer is no, 7-5 is indeed plausible.

But remember this, the offense is going to have some pretty stout margin for error in the Auburn defense. Best DL in the nation, underrated but highly talented and deep (yes, proven) secondary..the only question is the LB but the coaches are over the moon about KJ Britt, Chandler Wooten, Zacoby McClain and 5* #1 LB true frosh, Owen Pappoe.

So based on what we know about all of that, and the QB's thus far, probably a 9-3 team. Not as much talent as Bama, UGA or LSU...but the gap between AU and those 3 is not so vast that we can go ahead and mark down an L. If Auburn starts rolling, all 3 are winnable.

Other than QB, not really.

Their offensive line has no proven depth.

This is college football in 2019... virtually no one has proven depth at any position.

They aren’t beating A&M this year. After that 4th quarter magic trick they pulled last year, Jimbo ain’t gonna have a slip up against such an inferior opponent.

Auburn returns the best OT tandem in the sec in Prince and Driscoll and 3 DL that are top players in the conference in Brown Davidson and Coe. They look good in the trenches which is where the game is won. Oline is set with a player or two needing to step up to help with depth, Sharp and Hamm and Brahms are all key backups so if Tashawn Manning and another player steps up they’ll be just fine. Dline is set with the staters and already have around 3 key backups in Big Kat Truesdell and Coynis. I expect the 2 highly touted freshman Dlineman to help as well in Jaren Handy and Charles Moore
