Hey Tuna, Scarbo wants to give you a pulitzer...
LINK
Cecil Newton talking to former Mississippi State player Kenny Rogers about getting money to send the quarterback to State was the spark that set off a wildfire of unsubstantiated allegations captured most fancifully in the Internet fable "As the Plains Burn," which really should've won a Pulitzer Prize.
For fiction.
The unhealthy alliance between the elder Newton and Rogers, for all practical purposes, put Auburn on a form of probation from the day it was revealed last November until Wednesday, when the NCAA classified it as the only violation it could pin down against the Newton family.
Fortunately for anyone who cares about the truth, as the NCAA pointed out in the bureaucratic smack-down portion of its official statement, the association operates under a slightly higher burden of proof than bloggers, posters and callers, and even some members of the media.
Here's looking at you, Danny Sheridan and friends.
Instead of being swayed by public misinformation, the NCAA did what the NCAA is supposed to do. It assigned to the Newton case a bulldog of a lead investigator, Jackie Thurnes, whose previous work included the Derrick Rose-Memphis basketball case that cost the Tigers 38 victories and a national runner-up finish, and turned her loose.
Consider a list of states where the NCAA put actual boots on the ground to sniff around on Newton, the HBO 4 and beyond: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida and Arkansas.
Now contemplate the multiple fronts covered by a wide-ranging investigation that, according to Thurnes' "It's over" letter to Auburn AD Jay Jacobs, "was not limited to" Newton and the HBO 4.
What does TUNA do now with all his time (he says its not over)

I am happy that Auburn may be the cleanest sec school in NCAA history..
Reading is fundamental.
The report didn't say you fully innocent of all charges, it stated there wasn't enough evidence to support the continued investigation. You should really be thankful that Auburn is in the clear.
Theres a big difference between clear and clean.
I will celebrate the clear portion and not gloat on the clean. Because as the report also stated, it may be reopened if further evidence reveals itself.

Actually I believe it said there wasn't any evidence that any violations had occured.

As they do in every case. There is no double jeopardy in the NCAA

Because, as we all know, the NCAA sends these public letters to schools that they are investigating ALL THE TIME taking the risk that they *may* have to take it all back later.
Face it, dude... its over. This letter was the biggest SHUT THE frick UP to the idiots pushing this agenda-driven investigation that I've ever seen. Your "helpful" tips and leads are no longer required.

Could your program survive if the NCAA set their sites on your school? That is all we heard, that the NCAA will get you if they set their sites on you.
But if the NCAA could have pinned something on Auburn, it would have. It couldn't so it didn't.
As to the investigation being opened, you need reading fundamentals, if information comes forward on ANY school, certainly the NCAA would look at it...

Title: NCAA concludes Auburn investigation
Tigers’ case finished following 80 interviews across 13 months
Updated date: Last Updated - October 12, 2011 5:31 GMT
After conducting more than 80 interviews, the NCAA has concluded its investigation into Auburn.
The NCAA enforcement staff is committed to a fair and thorough investigative process. As such, any allegations of major rules violations must meet a burden of proof, which is a higher standard than rampant public speculation online and in the media.
The allegations must be based on credible and persuasive information and includes a good-faith belief that the Committee on Infractions could make a finding.
As with any case, should the enforcement staff become aware of additional credible information, it will review the information to determine whether further investigation is warranted.
Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs
“We appreciate the NCAA and thank them for their professionalism and thoroughness during this exhaustive investigation. We are pleased to put this matter behind us.”

I would have thought this board would have cleaned out after so many morons received a big splat on their face this week. Hopefully, next time some moron tries to speak of knowledge - just reference their posts during the Newton saga and you will notice they have zero credibility and simply homer their tin foil hat daily. In fact, I think someone needs to do a little research and start calling these folks out with actual posts and dribble they spewed for months as "fact" from their double wide friends with inside information. I haven't even heard from my conspiracy theory Bama friends all week - ignoring calls etc. Whether anybody else believes it or not - the next "cheating" reference to AU will simply make you look like a big fat stupid Tuna or just simply a full fledged UPDYKE.

Well, since schools like Alabama and LSU and others have all said they were clean but still got sanctions, I'd rather be clear than clean anyday.

Auburn got away with playing an ineligible player. Oh well. History now
And this was the issue surrounding the ATPB thread and the drooling maniacs screaming for the death penalty. Face it this thing dwindled down and the "he was ineligible, its an outrage" is the last straw some are clinging desperately to.

FULL Disclosure: I posted a lot on ATPB, they hated me, wonder why...

But, but, but Alabama fans had nothing to do with it, it was BTT and LSU... (Really Bama Fans)...here is the classic BOL from WL (WL has revealed himself as a BIG bama fan and an attorney in Montgomery), also remember Scotty Moore and Redfish..

"Unlike Aubs and Gadsden, and (insert recruit X here) being sold to Bama, this tale of cheating is factual and fatal. I cannot nor will I say anything other than this. Auburn is going on probation for a very long time. enjoy playing cam yesterday to keep Bama from Atlanta. Enjoy playing cam so that you could give your fans a send off to Atlanta. Enjoy watching a player who gave your program the finger kneel at the goalpost so your "family" could be fooled again. He and his family could care less about you. Save it.....repeat it..put in on the bunker.........mark my word and my reputation (which means nothing at all in the true sense of the word after all..this is an internet board for goodness sake..VBG) You are about to be publically humiliated and punished harder than any College Football team in history..except SMU. Cam will be stricken from your record books. All wins, championships, and records will be gone. You will spend a decade at the BOTTOM of the SEC West, and financial hits will devastate your entire school (note..not the AD alone). You will reinforce your reputation as the most corrupt college program in history. You will be forced to change the name of your "field". You will lose to Alabama for a decade if not more. And finally, if leadership can be brought to the forefront, (and yes, this is the only prediction about which I cannot put forth what I consider strong evidence), you will be kicked out of the Southeastern Conference in a unanimous vote. Enjoy this limited run. And Will Collier..yes I know you will read this post...Hell is REALLY coming to burn your program to the ground. Go ahead and get your "conspiracy theories" ready..go ahead and try to figure out how you can claim championships that were rightfully stipped from you..go ahead and focus on how you will bring down Alabama, your singular obsession in life. Your hell continues this week..........we here plan to enjoy your pain."
