They heard MSU didn't pay 180k, and Cam went to AU. Thus, they ran with stories claiming AU paid 180k to get Cam.

We were put through the biggest smear campaign in college football history and the jacklegs at BSPN were right in the middle of it. They were instrumental in putting the stuff out there and it was never proven.

Cam Newton was one of the best 5 players of the last 10-15 years to come through the SEC. He single-handedly brought Auburn a championship. Auburn was a 7-8 win team without him, at best. At best. I'd say Newton alone was worth +5-6 solid wins to that team. That's why people get pissed.

Cry about what? The guy was awesome. The team basically sucked without him. Defense was garbage. Receivers were mediocre. The guy was a phenom. He turned an Ole Miss into an Alabama for one year.
