So, you can't be both? That explains Bama BB, and why CC is a dump.

Last year doesn't explain the 40 previous seasons.

And yet we still have more titles than Auburn.

I see you are avoiding my question about being a basketball school that has never played for a national championship? I mean, since Georgia is clearly underachieving at basketball and Auburn is right on the border, shouldn't all of the basketball players be jumping on the basketball school? You know...the University of Auburn?

Auburn titles:

1957
2010
How many years in between those?
How many years in between your basketball titles, since you are a basketball school?

Why don't we stay more recent and talk CFP appearances? Even with a field of 12, it's still going to be tough sleddi g for Auburn to make the cut.

I had to read your response a time or two....
Why would any program who prefers to compete for championships hire a coach for a year or two with both sides knowing he will be replaced for the right guy after things settle down? Especially in today's SEC culture.
To be very honest this board is wrong about the whole situation at Auburn with booster involvement. The situation came to them and it is completely on the HC and his staff.
It would funny as hell when all is said and done that he walks away with a minor buyout to protect his own reputation among a few others. This is not on Auburn.
You think very highly that Lane is satisfied in Oxford? Not saying he is coming to Auburn but he will go somewhere in a heartbeat where he can seriously compete for championships.

It's not that Auburn will settle, it's really more like you won't have a choice. Your money will be no good to top flight coaches. Who wants to go down to Auburn and have the boosters Harsin them out of existence? It's not like they didn't pull a stunt like this with Tuberville, so there's history there. You'll end up with a coordinator who's decent but not an amazing coach, who maybe stabilizes the thing enough to hire an amazing coach next time. I think you're going to find out, as did Tennessee a while back, that your money's no good. Everywhere has money, and with playoff expansion, lots of places will have a chance to get in.

As for Lane in Oxford, yeah, I think he is satisfied. Doesn't mean he might not leave someday, but I don't think he's itching go get out of town. I actually think he's found the small town college life suits him a bit.

I could see Lane leaving if the NFL is interested.

Maybe if Bama wants him to replace Saban after he retires but honestly lane doesn’t seem like he wants to grind with recruiting too much so the Bama job might not appeal.

I think Oxford is a good spot for him for college and likely the only place he’d leave for is the nfl.

But people change as time goes on, so who knows.

Lane will never get to Atlanta at Ole Miss. It is not about money for him.

Laugh it up now. With the right coach, Auburn can be special. They proved it already while Saban was on his run. Won a title in 2010, played for another in 2013, 10 win season in 2017.

Really, three times since 2010. Two seasons following winning 3 games and two seasons following going 7-5.

Boosters will need to start making even more money to keep up with throwing money away every year or so.

How many program are there where the AD makes the decision on who the next coach will be? List them in the SEC.

The problem is that Auburn's boosters are the one making the pick for the next HC. That is why this last hired is up in smoke because the boosters didn't make the pick!

You don't have an answer or will not admit. You have no list, because it doesn't exist at this level . Very few HCs in the SEC really answer to the AD. You think Saban answers to Byrne ?

Why are you talking about Alabama and not focusing on Auburn?

I think every coach in the SEC has that relationship with their AD. They usually make 5 times or greater and the ADs job is to handle the day-to-day financial issues with a program. Big spending requires other people to get involved.

It sure isn't working at Auburn.
