My whole life auburn has failed to achieve championships even though they will go around rules at every turn to do so.
Just look at their list of culprits:
Bobby Lowder, pat Dye, Milton McGregor, Jimmy Rane, etc...just a bunch of lowlife dirtbags.
I hate auburn athletics because it stands for everything bad in college athletics.

They frick cows, live in a barn, and are red headed step children. They only exist because they either attended the barn, were raised by attenders of the barn, or more than likely are outcasts of their family. although I have good friends that are auburn fans, they all thoroughly annoy me during football season and can all get a case of the clap during that period as far as I'm concerned.

I was born in 1982 but I'm guessing they probably didn't hate us too much before then when we legitimately were "little brother". However, since Pat Dye came to Auburn and turned the state upside down and we have been a better overall program than them for 30 years now that's hard for the old timers, who think bama has some manifest destiny to dominate the state and college football, to swallow.

Pat Dye is certainly part of it... Now perception is bigger than reality, so here is a perception.... Dye was winning and winning big and almost won 2 MNC (1983 and 88), Dye had won 4 SEC in 10 years, Alabama fans began to fear Auburn. We took the game to home and home (Auburn is 14-4 vs. Bama in Ttown and Auburn).
Auburn fans believe that Trilleta and Eric Ramsey received guidance, financial support, cars, high priced attorneys from the REC in a smear campaign that included 60 minutes. Dye resigned, but since he worked for Alabama for 10 years, many Bama fans believe he know about A. Langham and Gene Jelks and the NCAA hammered Bama and forced them to forfeit games... Since tht day in 92, Alabama has been on probation 3 more times including Albert Means (some Bama fans believe Auburn assisted)... Now we get to the present day and MANY Auburn fans believe that Alabama is behind the smear campaign against Cam, ATPB, NYT (Alabama connections abound), etc. in an effort to again smear Auburn..
Now I am not saying any of this is true, can not even prove it... But I will tell you that many believe it to be true and that is enough for the hatred between BOTH sides.

Perception is that they and Jody W were themedia leak. I am not here to debate if it is true, but I know many Auburn dans believe it to be true.

The hate on the Bama side is MUCH greater. Much more name calling and attempted demeaning attacks. I don't know if this has always been the case, I don't remember it from before the early 80's. I assume it has to do with the turn-around in dominance. Auburn has owned two of the last three decades (80's and 00's), as far as the Iron Bowl goes. It kinda of reminds me of how mad Al Gore got when a hayseed from Texas beat him out of the job he felt destined to have.
