Of course he is.

Nick Saban has always done the same thing with Alabama.

A delicious consequence of this hire is the potential that Auburn’s ultimate firing of his son could sour Bruce on the school. As it stands, he could/should be a lifetime asset for the program. He genuinely seems to love Auburn and his ongoing support gives them some form of legitimacy that was lacking before Bruce was hired. When/if they fire his son? We’ll see how it goes.

Pearl quit on 9/22. That's not long before the start of the season. And after portal transfers.

It was a shite move. And look - I wanted Pearl at Kentucky. But not after that move.

No one else was coming after Steven Pearl. He wasn’t even considered a great assistant.

What have Auburn done for football in the last 7 years or so? Something or someone is holding Auburn athletic program back.

Who among us wouldn't want to guarantee our son a few million dollars? $3 million a year...5 year contract. Not sure what kind of buyout language there is, but Pappy Pearl gifted his kid around $15 million.

I am still a little baffled they didn't just put the interim tag on Steven for the year.

What the frick was cohen supposed to do?… run a nation wide search the first week of practice?

Bruce left during the middle of negotiations for his final contract. He 100% forced AUs hand. Or do you Coherent should’ve also been running a search while negotiating with the best coach in program history?

BP helped and hurt his son with his move.He left him with a very average lineup who because of the final 4 has a bullseye on its back. The good thing for SP is he is set up for life financially.AU got Fed.

We do seem to get everyone’s best shot..: but part of that is an absolute refusal to play defense.

Counter point: Bruce saw the writing on the wall with this roster and quit so that his son would take the fall. His son should be pissed.
THIS! Steven is a good coach and evaluator of talent. He was just dealt a very shitty hand. No big man, and decimated Final 4 roster with one returning starter.

Cohen is just a name on a long list of Auburn ADs. Bruce will probably have statue. Not saying what happened should've, but Cohen had his balls in a vice when Bruce announced he wasn't coaching anymore. Best coach in AU BB history made that call and there wasn't much Cohen could do about it. Who is more powerful within the Alabama football program right this second? The AD or the former coach that still has an office there? Don't kid yourself.
