Seems like things were rolling along pretty well until the Miss State collapse. Since then it's all been downhill. From what little I've read it seems he was intentionally sabotaged. Why? Does a lot of it come from Patrick Nix because Harsin benched the golden boy? I know he's a high school coach and obviously knows a lot of people.

He has no QB and should probably be a Sunbelt level coach… he’s obviously over his head

No clue. None of us know.

If I had to guess, it’s probably how he acts behind closed doors. More likely, it’s that he eschewed the strategies that work for recruiting the South. Players had some negative things to say, but that’s going to happen on any team.

The team fell apart after a great start and then recruiting sucked. PTB probably never wanted him in the first place, so they started to look for a way to get rid of him.

Just a guess.

I think there was a lot that didn't come out, there. Somebody with a grudge started the rumors about the affair, but Mason didn't just run off to at best a parallel gig for nothing.

Harsin basically ignored recruiting when he got here. I think he really thought he could evaluate and vet to such a high degree that it would overcome talent advantages in the SEC. He was lackluster bringing in portal players, did nothing to help on the offensive line and from what I saw Saturday, has a team that is going backwards in almost every aspect from last year's losing season. The media circus that blew up certainly didn't help things, but Harsin hasn't helped his cause at all since arriving here.

Some prescient BOT members saw the writing on the wall. Also, he didn't bench Nix. Nix got hurt and missed the last 3-4 games of the season.

He sabotaged himself with his shitty coaching, refusal to recruit, and his chode personality that he borrowed from the preppy jock bully in a 80s teen movie

We should’ve just severed ties when he pulled his antivaxx BS

yeah, that’s pretty much the only thing he’s handled correctly since his hiring

The way I see it. He was sabotaged bc the good ole boys boosters didn't get to hire Kevin Steele. AD Allen Greene bucked the good ole boy system and went and hired Harsin. Good ole boys didn't want Harsin in the first place and have most likely effectively worked against him since. Meanwhile Harsin has done himself no favors not recruiting and thinking he can act like a dick. The sabotage in February was dirty and unwarranted despite Harsin's failure at recruiting and whatever else. Allen Greene's contract wasn't renewed in August so he was basically ran off. Auburn has an interim AD at this point in time. Now that the only person backing Harsin is gone the sharks are circling and with results like that shitshow Saturday afternoon they will dispatch him pretty easily in probably less than a month.

*Harsin did in fact bench Bo Nix during the near loss to Georgia State last year.

Because McCrary (among others, but him in particular) didn't want him.

This is a really good post because it clears up my understanding of the situation.

He wrecked himself. Crappy coaching. Internal issues with coaches. Can't relate to players. Can't recruit. Ran off best QB he had and replaced with nothing. Can't recruit. Messing with little Boise side pieces. Can't recruit. Terrible offense. Can't recruit.

The digging that was done on him back in February had to be done. If we had ignored the allegations, it would have been way worse. It was a no win situation brought about by Harsin's dumb arse.

It is a QB league. Without a QB, you suck. Not just an Auburn issue.

No QB? Finley is a good QB and has shown moments of brilliance. Why throw the kid under the bus?

So he didn’t bang the hot assistant? I’m kind of disappointed
