The whole "Big 6" angle is bunk. The conference now has 14 teams, and has recently added the largest, richest university in the conference to the western side of the bracket. (We'll ignore for the moment the 0-5 record vs. LSU.)

A&M more than makes up for the potential loss of Auburn. The switch should be made. It's common sense.

Um, how 'bout LSU and the big elephant in the room?

Auburn LSU has never been as huge rivalry for AU fans as the others. We have very very few alum/students from Louisiana.

We said we'd want to keep the Pachyderm game so

And Tennefrickingsee is more of a traditional rival than the afore-mentioned?!?!

Auburn vs Tennessee & Auburn v Florida are both easily more meaningful to Auburn fans than AU vs LSU

If We could add in another permanent East opponent and could grab either UF or UTk, I'd be okay staying in the West

It really is impressive that for as large & rich TAMU is, they suck so hard at football & are little brother in their state.

If this were to actually happen, when would be the earliest that would be possible?

Do you Auburn fans think most AU fans support this? Do you think it is likely to happen?

edit: That may have been discussed but I haven't read the thread

Didn't Sankey address this earlier in the week and pretty much said Auburn to the East is a dead deal?

Basically these discussions are now thing more than off-season bullshite stirred by the media.

+1. And many UT/AU/UF/USC/Vandy fans work/live in Atlanta. Auburn itself is literally in the exact middle between Knoxville and Gainesville, 317mi and 322mi respectively.

Auburn to the East, Missouri to the West, with Auburn still maintaining its Iron Bowl rivalry with Alabama.

Great. frick up SEC scheduling even more than it already is. So Alabama would have two permanent SEC East opponents? They would practically never play any of the other teams in the SEC East.

Auburn's location makes sense with being in the East, but they come off as just wanting an easier schedule/road to the sec title. Why didn't they say any of this in 2014?

Just move to a 9 conference game schedule. It's kinda pussy not to. And I know, gus didn't support it. That sucks. If we get a 9 game schedule, Bama can keep TSIO and IB.everybody is happy. Very other school can get a new perm east opponent. Auburn could even keep the lsu game

We'be been saying this ever since we don't get to play Florida and Tennessee anymore. Even when we were beating bama consistently and winning the sec. It makes so much more sense.

Our AD says whatever Pat Dye tells him. However AU/UF was a great rivalry, same with AU/UT.

And the east/west dominance is clearly cyclical and based more on the head coach.

1990s SEC champs:

1990 Tennessee
1991 Florida
1992 Alabama
1993 Florida
1994 Florida
1995 Florida
1996 Florida
1997 Tennessee
1998 Tennessee
1999 Alabama
2000 Florida

Well, that's a lie.

Yes, Auburn has a ton of kids from Georgia (who they already play every year). But they have more from Texas than any other state he listed except Florida.

ETA - They have more students from China than they do from 47 US states, just barely edged out by Florida or it would be 48.

So Jacobs is just spouting lies out of thin air to push his agenda, and his agenda is to get out of the toughest division in college football because he knows auburn can't consistently compete. What a fricking pussy

bullshite. You guys have been in the West for 25 years now...never heard any bitching about until Saban arrived on the seen.

The grumbling started when we lost Tennessee and UF.

Saban won't be there forever. The next dominant coach could pick an East school similar to Spurrier and Fulmer in the 1990s.

It's funny....I haven't heard a single Tennessee fan complaining about about not playing Auburn more. I do see them posting a LOT about wanting to maintain the Bama game. This so-called rivalry you all have with UT seems a bit one-sided.

When someone besides Alabama, VOLS, Florida, Georgia, Auburn or LSU wins the SEC, we can have this discussion.

Missouri has represented the East division twice since UT has.
