I hope Pettway is better. He did not look 100% vs Bama, and I don't think it was just because the defense made him look bad. I think he was hobbled in that game. I hope they don't try to play White unless he is well enough to throw deep. I know it's the Sugar Bowl, but the kid's future is more important. They will likely need him next season.

White was dressed out and threw the ball in pregame and coming out after halftime at the Iron Bowl. How healthy he will be I can't say but I think he starts.

The most points AUs D has given up all year was 30 against Bama, that was with zero Offensive support. They only gave up 20+ points three times, and two of those were without any QB play.

OU isnt in the same universe as Bama's D. not saying we could score 50 points without them but we should be able to move it without White or Pettway. our D will hold them under 20 even without an offense. with KP and White full strength I could see it looking like the Arky game.

Y'all do have a. Wry good defense but if Alabama wore them down in the second half and pulled away why do you think Oklahoma will be different.

Because unlike bama, OU doesn't have an elite defense. Our offense should be able to pick up first downs and move the ball... keeping our defense off the field.

Pettway should be good to go. Man I like watching that kid on the field, he is a hoss.

Depending on the severity of SW's injury, he could be ok to play. I believe if they were dealing only with his initial injury he'd be fine for the bowl game. But the re-injury in the UGA game may have wiped him out for the season.

In either case, Gus & Rhett will have a full month to prepare for this game. They should be able to scheme good enough with a Pettway/Johnson running attack and a JF3 short passing attack to hold their own against OU. AU's defense will keep the game close.

I understand that OU doesnt have a great defense, but i also believe Auburn hasnt faced an offense like they have this year.

They have some fire power thats clicking right now. They just hung 50 on West Virginia in the snow.

Mayfield, 2 RBs that could play anywhere, and Westbrook, they can score some points.

September was a long time ago. They have really looked good the past month. This wont be a cakewalk for Auburn. Vegas has OU as a 7 point favorite for a reason

Dude has a better chance of completing a 50 yard pass than a 5 yard pass.

They have a full month to work on his short passing game.

Hell, line him up with a TE for an hour every freaking day and let them get a couple of solid patterns down with each other. Utilizing the TE would throw OU for a loop because AU never seems to use the TE.

Not sure we have a TE. I'm not joking.
I can't remember the stat I saw that we either haven't completed a pass or a TD to a TE since Uzomah a couple of years ago.

Edit:

Auburn hasn’t completed a single pass to a tight end in 18 straight games, dating back to Uzomah’s last one as a Tiger — the Outback Bowl at the end of the 2014 season.

We hit Harris middle of this year for a TD and he was wide arse open.

^^This is why utilizing a TE package vs OU would throw their defense for a loop. Gus needs to do something unexpected, shake things up and stop being so predictable. What the hell could it hurt?

Clemson with deshaun Watson, mike williams, and Wayne Gallman might might disagree with that.

Bowl games can be funny... teams that were clicking in Nov/Dec might not be that way after a month off.

Mayfield is like a very poor man's version of JFF in that under pressure he runs around in circles like a chicken with his head cut off, except he's not nearly as fast, quick, or athletic as JFF, doesn't have NFL top 10 draft picks giving him all day, and sure as hell doesn't have Mike Evans bailing him out. Look at what any team that can provide pressure does to him and then think about what's going to happen with Lawson, Adams, and Davidson after him
