I mean duh. If we went all in on football wed be like ole miss. And that’s assuming we have a competent coach. We don’t. The ceiling in football is being competitive with the second tier teams. A slightly better version of mizzou. The ROI isn’t there.
Basketball is a different story. We have the fan support to be great. Same with baseball.

Football costs a lot more than Basketball and baseball combined. Look at the football roster and compare that with basketball and baseball. It got too expensive for Arkansas to shell out more NIL for football players.

Actually reporting stuff like this is counter productive to getting talent to join the football program for an Arkansas beat writer.
Look, even if Sam is fired. The success of basketball and baseball will always take any heat off the AD or administration for anything that happens during football season. If the AD and administration don’t GAF about football, it means the next football hire probably would be picked based on who they can bring in on a bargain, probably G5 coach.
They can’t really expect any good P4 coach that’s used to having support. They need an up and comer that is used to having nothing and won at smaller schools. That way the little support they get from Arkansas will look like it’s light years ahead of their former G5.

Btw, nabors sucks. He’s in it for himself. I’m not saying this because I disagree with him, but he thinks too much of himself when he knows no more than any of us. Anyone who would post his opinion needs their heads examined.

Historically Arkansas football has been an overachiever even back in the SWC.
Arkansas has more money than you think but they aren't going to give it to Pittman who they have zero confidence in.
So they used that money for basketball instead. That is another clue that they giving up without telling you.

His contract gives him no reason or desire to make a deal. Deal was made and he's happy with it. We can pay him his money or he can remain head coach. Let's see what happens this year. I have a feeling we may surprise some.

It will surely not take the heat off the the AD even though he only makes the decisions when the boosters would tell him to do so. Football makes the big money and you can't let that fail.

It’s so funny how infectious the negativity and pessimism can be when it’s been that long since you’ve been relevant.
Arkansas football is damn near identical to LSU basketball. It’s been a horrific 15 years for both and had their saviors fired over scandals. You hear the same shite from many LSU fans about how LSU can never be relevant again but that’s simply not true
