Have A&M fans gone full homer retard, Or has ESPN gone full retard with the JFF coverage and scandal reporting?
Did you see the timeline of notable events?
Bwahahahaha.....
Again, all we know is what the media knows, and I'm not willing to bet even a Jackson that the media knows everything -- or even close to everything -- that the NCAA knows. That's why I'm taking the "wait and see" approach. Whatever happens is gonna happen, regardless of message board spin, homerism, trollfaces or flames.

I echo the sentiments of tmc on the A&M board:
The investigation info was leaked by someone with an agenda, regardless of whether Johnny did it or not.

I'm avoiding this topic in general (which is hard to do since every place I normally read news this is a prominent issue), but I did read this one from Dan Wetzel from Yahoo! He pretty much echoes my thoughts on the matter.
If not guilty, it goes away. If guilty, it's going to be a very hard case to prove without a smoking gun. Since the NCAA started this investigation at least 2 months ago with nothing happening so far, it's clear they don't have one. I think the leak was designed to get people talking because the case is likely DOA without some new info coming forward.

Yeah, but that's too bland for the dirtsheets. Got to make him out to be the second coming of Tony Montana.
Haven't heard anything about Roger in a while but they had him in a lot of tabloids at one time. I remember seeing one I had to buy during that time. Headline read something like.."Hillary Clinton Is An Alien" (which might actually have some merit) and had an article inside naming all the aliens in Congress. Strom Thurman was one (of about half of Congress), if I remember correctly.

We did this too...avoid all but the positive article. At least you have a national columnist pumping one out...some of our fans turned to a loose band of retards calling themselves never to yeild.

The bigger story here is what damage will it do to the NCAA and public opinion?
Will this be the straw that breaks it's back giving way to a new way of ding things as desired by the SEC and other bigs?

Three sources said Manziel signed photographs, footballs, mini football helmets and other items at the request of an autograph broker named Drew Tieman. Two sources, who are aware of the signing arrangement, told “Outside the Lines” that Tieman approached Manziel on Jan. 6, when he landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to attend the game between Alabama and Notre Dame the next day.
quote:
After that meeting, three sources said, Manziel, accompanied by his friend and personal assistant Nathan Fitch, visited Tieman’s residence and signed hundreds of items in the main room of the apartment despite the fact that there were many people in the room. Before Manziel left South Florida, after taking in the title game, he signed hundreds of autographs more, one source said.
quote:
The source also told “Outside the Lines” that James Garland, the NCAA’s assistant director of enforcement, in June contacted Tieman and at least one person associated with the signings. The source said Garland, who did not return calls from “Outside the Lines” for comment, told the person that he wanted to talk about Manziel signing items that had appeared for sale on eBay. An NCAA spokeswoman cited NCAA policy to “Outside the Lines” and declined to comment.
quote:
Again, nobody saw a dime change hands, and this is all speculation from several people who were in the room at Tieman’s house. To clarify just how ridiculous this report is, we’re prematurely condemning Manziel and Drew Tieman based on the speculation of sources that were in a room with “many people” and other unnamed sources who simply heard something about something from someone who knows something.
quote:
Basically, Manziel is guilty of signing autographs in front of a bunch of people who were playing the telephone game. Does that mean that Manziel isn’t guilty of accepting money for those hundreds of autographs and therefore violating an NCAA rule? No. But this “sources” bullsh*t is just getting so old already.

This has to be the most kern thread in the history of any rant thread that's not a season topic or football thread on game day.

The media is quoting anonymous and reporting on unsubstantiated rumor as fact. ESPN is in the rumor business. Would be great if there was actual evidence.
I'm willing to take the wait and see approach.

As with the Newton and Miami cases. They had evidence about Miami and would not use it.
Public opinion is not good for the NCAA. With the public not on their side, we will see a new system that will be labeled as fair and best for all.

ESPN is only doing as they are directed to. The NCAA is not pulling the strings here, ESPN is not either. Its our jealous hippie brethren in Austin and the bama sister humpers

Seriously, can't everyone post their JFF thoughts here instead of starting a new thread every time. That's all 90% of the first page is now.
ETA - And it's all over nothing at this point.
