Can you provide a decent reason as to why 6-8 weeks of investigating hasn't turned up evidence of 10k exchanging hands?
Unless the NCAA is just waiting to announce their findings, I find it difficult to believe there is much out there.

If they've been at this since at least June and haven't found solid evidence of 10k+, they aren't going to unless someone decides to talk (assuming it's the truth).
I doubt they will be able to determine whether any money actually changed hands, and all of this will be swept under the rug.

Where is the '5 figures' talk coming from if the 2 witnesses didn't see any money?
edit: nm just saw it in the article

Unless someone wrote the dude a check or transferred it directly into his account electronically, I don't see how there will be much of a trail. And if someone did either of those things, Manziel has bigger problems than the NCAA.

Darren Rovell. Where he heard it nobody knows, but the guy does have a history of making shite up and getting in trouble for it.

How long did the Reggie bush investigation go on?

Probably because they don't have subpoena power to get into banking records?

SIAP, didn't see this on recent pages so sorry if I missed it. The info from ESPN has ben updated.
The quantity is the big red flag. The items were authenticated, in large batches, indicating they were intended for sale.

quote:
While college athletes are frequently asked to sign autographs in public places, and those autographs often end up for sale on eBay, the amount of Manziel product that flooded the memorabilia market overall following the BCS title game was overwhelming, memorabilia dealers told "Outside the Lines."
While Manziel's father, Paul, had alleged that many of the items were fake, two of the leading autograph authentication companies, PSA/DNA and JSA, have authenticated many of the items. Officials with both companies have told ESPN in recent months that they stand by their guarantee that they believe the signatures, some with inscriptions like "Gig 'Em" and "Heisman '12" are genuine. Online verification databases show a single lot of 999 signed Manziel photos numbered sequentially. JSA authenticated 248 items and 376 items that came in in two batches that also are numbered sequentially. Industry insiders say this indicates the signings were done in large quantities intended for wholesale.
Calls and messages to Paul Manziel were not returned.

ya I just saw in the article where it was the two witnesses who are claiming the '5 figures' but didn't witness the actual money changing hands.

Why is that interesting?
Nobody is denying he probably signed things to be sold. It only matters if he received money from that.

You are delusional. How the hell do you know what the NCAA has yet? Have they held a press conference? Maybe they did and I just didnt see it while reading this thread. Who are you trying to convince posters in this thread or yourself?

A&M is like the poor family that hits the lotto and doesn't know how to handle the money properly. And they didn't even hit the mega $500 million lotto. They went 11-2 and won the Cotton Bowl.. That's like winning $25 million.
A&M was suddenly rich and will lose it all within a year.

He's assuming ESPN knows everything the NCAA knows when in reality ESPN probably only knows what the NCAA had on day 1

Hey hey....let's quit all this dumbass speculating. If I had a son, he'd look just like Johnny Manziel.....well...maybe a little better looking....but there'd definitely be similarities...

So he just signed things to be sold out of the goodness of his heart? Right. Earlier in this very thread there were comments made about how he would routinely sign things for people back home. Here though, you have 1,600+ sequentially numbered signed items! No way he did that for free. For some broker he didn't know who met him at the airport.

Ummm
You follow MLB?
Why didn't it all come out in the first ESPN story? Think about it Rog.

Yes, why is that interesting. Johnny Cash had nothing better to do with his time in South Beach than to sit down and sign 1623 items for one or two people so he took all that time because the guy or guys were so cute (I guess that is an Aggie thing).
