Compliance office has not said anything. They don't comment on on-going investigations. The booster club sent a letter to the alumni, but that was about it.

Just wait, once all of the scandals that are going on in Tuscaloosa come out, we will all watch As The Titles Burn.

The question now is this: Was A&M inept or corrupt — and which is worse? Did school officials bury their heads in the pile of money that Johnny Paycheck made for them and not want to know what was going on around them? Or did they actually know what was going on and choose to ignore it, hoping that Johnny Paycheck would make them another big pile of money this season?
Either way, the NCAA needs to come down and come down hard on Manziel. Actually, if Texas A&M has any integrity, the Aggies themselves should recognize that Manziel blatantly broke the rules and immediately suspend him for the season.

The bottom line is this:
Whether or not this happened - the NCAA is going to have too much of a fight on its hands with suspending Manziel.
1) Proving it.
2) Johhny is larger than life now with A list celebs and athletes on his side. and the Manziels will go down kicking and screaming. They will sue everybody - and may win. Landmark suits.
3) The NCAA will not have a reason why they are not also pushing the Clowny issue as well as the others and they would be forced to look into those and other matters and they do not want to do that.
4) Johnny is being looked at as the agent for change now by most. He has done nothing others have not done. The NCAA knows this. Its a tough spot. Manziels will file the biggest lawduit vs. NCAA, ESPN, you name it if he has to sit. That is what everyone is being told. They are being told the other players did in fact do the same thing and they better be ready to bring everybody down.
5) NCAA has their own bodies buried. They let it go.

While I don't think the NCAA will bench JFF, it won't be because of the threat of a lawsuit. If he broke an NCAA rule that he agreed to follow when he signed his schollie, then it does not matter if the NCAA punishes him and no one else. That would be like suing the highway patrol because everyone was speeding, but you're the only one who got a ticket.
Plus, suing the NCAA gives them the one thing they want most: subpoena power.

The Orlando Sentinel seems hellbent on taking Manziel down. Tebow-Koolaid? I don't get it. The same writer had an article after the Manning camp mess (before all this), "Has Johnny Manziel already lost the Heisman Trophy?". His answer was "yes", by the way. And another opined that Manziel was a perfect example of why the Heisman shouldn't be awarded to freshmen... in March.
The horror! Scantily clad, you say? I guess they'd have preferred the guy with the imaginary dead girlfriend.
"Was A&M inept or corrupt?", though, is just ludicrous no matter which way this plays out.

Subpoenas would make the NCAA all giddy.
It's actually the witnesses and the Manziels that don't want this to go to court if he's been paid.
IRS would be next in line.

JFF started the A&M scrimmage last night - he's going to play. And trust me, the NCAA doesn't want Manziel joining the O'Bannon case, of which they have been warned behind the scenes by third parties. The school has a lawyer investigating, and if he says things are clear Manziel will play. And if he doesn't, he won't.
What is funny is that people here say the NCAA doesn't care. Of course they do - if Manziel joins the O'Bannon suit, their entire way of life is in danger given his celebrity status. Basically, you have some low level hack reporters that are trying to scare A&M into sitting him for unknown reasons. A&M will give them the finger if the lawyers say all clear. I can't believe people are so scared to watch him play again this year.
As for Big XII fan, you need to go back to that joke of a conference you control, and try not to lose to Baylor again.

Accepting that statement for the sake of argument, which is it, then? Inept or corrupt? What should A&M have done differently assuming all of the allegations are 100% true? Hire a retired FBI guy to follow him 24/7? Does that make sense to you?

This is a valid analogy except there are just too many people on the highway.
The deal with Clowny is that he simply made a statement and they moved on. But - he has many sequentially numbered graphs with same broker. This shrinks the highway quite a bit.
I will say this - I would not want to be on the other end of depositions explaining why I acted a certain way given equal evidence.
On a side note - in this information age - I'm waiting for random fans and hackers to go after media personalities. Its a new strange age. If you spend your time constantly beating someone down it seems someone is gonna have a shot of you in a titty bar or with a blow one day hit the "presses"
The world is getting smaller.
As of today - mo matter who you are - I would pray you have nothing already on tape and behave from here on out.
