Then why is the NCAA taking so long to make a ruling?
Best case you have a huge distraction going into the season. Worst case he's ruled ineligible. I'm guessing that he maybe gets lucky and doesn't get ruled ineligible but Sumlin is forced to sit him for a period of time to avoid potential forfeitures.
To say nothing will come of this is being naive at this point.

Of course, the best scenario is an 84 page thread about an incident that proves to be nothing...at which point I might raise an unprecedented Rant ruckus.

This sounds a lot like the Cam situation. Everything points to some shadiness going down, but they can't really prove cash exchanged hands unless one of the hands doing the exchanging decides to talk.
