A lot of younger Aggies admire Jackie Sherrill. I'm not one of those. He did some good things at A&M but I was ready to burn him at the stake when he said "you can't prove anything."

Our track record is horrible. That doesn't mean we should just accept cheating.

Would you rather "cheat" and win big or play fair and finish 7-5 every year? Everyone cheats, its a matter of not getting busted.

Jackie Sherrill made A&M the #1 recruiting power in Texas for almost a decade and set the stage for multiple SWC titles and cotton bowl wins. Most OLD AGS admire him as well. My father graduated the same year you did and he loves Sherill and has no problem with Manziel playing. Why? Because he isn't a remnant of his parent's era who thumps a bible and cries about honesty when it comes to sports.

You are alone. Not in a "everyone else is wrong and I'm right, WWJD" kind of wrong either. You're just idealistic and irrelevant. This isn't a matter of principle. It's a matter of the NCAA being retarded and people in general equating morality with college athletics.

Suck it up or die as a relic.

then I suppose you werent around for the shitstorm of the 80's and early 90's and if you were then you probably wouldnt be affliating yourself with A&M athletics in general.

Well, no, I wasn't around actually. I was around in the Emory Bellard days and genuinely loved that man. I ran into him several times on campus, said "Howdy", and he'd stop me and ask me how I was doing and we'd have a real conversation. No reason for him to do that. And, of course, his programs never had any NCAA investigations, much less penalties. When he got fired I thought there might be a problem. And here it came! Jackie was a mix of everything good and at the same time bad. I was very glad to see him go, with or without the wins he brought.

Your latter point about my affiliation is complete BS. I'll always root for the Aggies. Sumlin sure as hell isn't Sherrill and I don't expect anything like that from him. But I'd like to see him nip this in the bud.

But this point... sorry, but this pisses me off:

bullshite! As long as you accept it as "understandable" it will no doubt still happen.

Even if Manziel didn't do anything wrong, he is an idiot for letting a friend from HS do stuff on his behalf which led to this. He is not anywhere near the ideal QB and I don't really want him to stay past this season anymore. I want to take what we can get and cut bait.

This. The drinking, fighting for a friend, Manning Camp didnt really bother me. The Paul article had me shaking my head though.

I want another decent season out of him and I hope he declares for the draft.

He is a douchebag, immature, and spoiled, but as long as he laces up those cleats and puts that Aggie helmet on every Saturday and plays like we know he can. All this offseason shite is irrelevant.

Now if he has a slump... The rant will have to start selling computer screen cleaner with all the Ranters that will be jizzing all over these boards.

Just hoping he can keep it together on the field for another season then leave for the NFL. Young QB prospects we have are exciting. Im just hoping KA isnt pushed away from his committment because of all of these shenanigans.

Should get interesting come mid September.

OK, I can live with that. I'm Mr. Irrelevant now.

But I reject your "win big or play fair and finish 7-5" hypothesis. If those are your only two options you must believe Sumlin knew about Manziel breaking the rules, right? I don't believe that for a minute. But he can damn sure correct it.

Think you took that in the wrong context. I was agreeing you with that being caught cheating or stealing was something that should not be tolerated, (hence the word understandable meaning I understand where you are coming from on that) and that I sided with you are this making the program look bad.

You can just paint another one on in the offseason anyway.

I believe Sumlin doesn't care, because he knows sports are not equivalent to regular society with regards to morality.

Either you bend the rules and win or play by the book and get beaten by everyone else who is bending the rules. Saban is the master of bending the rules and it's no coincidence he wins the most.

I wouldn't actually have a problem with that for the 1917 nc. We were undefeated and unscored upon. I mean hell we did it for two other years why not that one?

Above all else, Sumlin is an Aggie. Sherril may not have coached by the Aggie code. But, Sumlin does.

At this point in the game, Sumlin is aware of JFF's guilt or innocence. If johnny was guilty, he wouldn't have practiced today. However, the converse has occurred. I think its safe to assume Johnny's innocence in this matter. Its time to stop all of the what if's and face up to the truth of the matter. The Aggie Honor Code is alive and well.

No he's not. He went to Purdue. He spent a total of two years at A&M before he was our head coach.

Telling us they wouldnt want him on their team.

I think some of us are being honest. I wouldn't trade him for AJ. Or Aaron Murray.

This just isn't worth it.

AJ, who has set the bar highest for QB douchiness at Alabama, can't touch JFF on this front.

I think most of us were in awe and gave proper due. But the off-the-field antics just keep piling up.

No, I wouldn't want him in his present form, and many of you Aggies appear to be ready for him to leave, too. We don't need him. We won big with John Parker Wilson and Greg McElroy. A legit QB like AJ is just icing on the cake.

Cant tell if serious... I am almost certain he is guilty... His "PA" is also a high school friend... even if Johnny never touched the money you think he didnt know about it... I am 100% okay with the fact he is probably guilty of getting money for some autographs, just dont think they can prove it. He won't miss a game this year because of it and thats all that really matters.

At the heart of our university, there is a football team. At the core of that team is a leader and a coach. His name is Sumlin. I'd venture to say, that makes him an Aggie like no other.

Not in the way you like to imagine.

If you believe Sumlin is squeaky clean you are naïve. The guy is ambitious, very smart and knows what it takes to win. Nobody with those traits is dotting every I.

Am I saying he is cheating like Sherrill? No. What I'm saying is idealistic Aggies like you who cant accept reality piss me off because your kind holds our program back. You long for the good old days of biblical NCAA glory and ignore what is going on now.
