let examine those two points you make.

being a good guy is an asset, not indicative of coaching ability.

My question was about his history, what in his career provides evidence he would be good in SEC.
his 6 years at Memphis shows he took the top funded AAC team to stagnation.

If the AD is going to tie a coaches hands like that then he would have been better off hiring a coach that is kind of known for doing more with less or a guy that comes from a small school that has had success and isn’t used to having a big time budget to work with. The coach I kind of have in mind as I give out these examples is Bill Clark the former UAB head coach. Clark is a pretty good coach. He won at UAB. If you can win at UAB you can win anywhere. If Arky is going to ask the football coach to win on a bare budget then a coach like Clark would be the type of coach they should have in mind.
