According to various press conferences yesterday, around 100. Not all of those are fatalities, the number is down from 160 earlier. Reports on missing usually contain some bad information. People also check in who don’t realize they are on the list.

Needless to say, many will never be found. Time is the enemy and it will only get harder to find and identify victims.
Investigation will be done by government and/or plaintiffs lawyers. Facts and timeline will be established. Families are still burying their children and loved ones. In the meantime, long article in today’s Wall Street Journal with some information. Also, see link below for information on the protocol followed by a nearby camp.

Flood analysis

An interesting article with historical perspective. Hoping the events of this past weekend, broadly speaking, create changes to make the Hill Country rivers more safe. Austin, San Antonio and the Hill Country itself have had explosive growth in the last ten years and more people and property are in harm’s way.
I’m not speculating. I live in the area and have been on all these rivers, extensively.

And will be at funeral later this week. Of a child. I’ll leave it at that.
If victims have not been found by now, it’s likely they will never be found. As described in some recent posts, this part of the Guadalupe is extremely rugged and rocky with many low water crossings built over culverts and small dams that create pools. The area is also teeming with wildlife.

Most of the victims of the 2015 Wimberly/Blanco River flood were never found. Look up the history of that flood and you will see these events are entirely foreseeable. Maybe not exactly where, but all the rivers in the Hill Country act the same during floods.
The thing is, this is not infrequent for the hill country. It happens over and over again. This is a more severe loss of life including children than typical but the floods are frequent. The area is called “flash flood alley” and has been extensively studied as the most flash flood prone part of the US.

Sirens were installed and went off in Comfort (Kendall county), downstream from Hunt and Kerrville. Kerr county decided not to spend the money.

Private camps should at a minimum move sleeping facilities to higher ground.
He hasn’t and shouldn’t. It’s over for him

But it’s clear he was trying too hard in a pressure situation. Same as the other mistakes in the 9th. This is a hallmark of DVH’s program. See foul ball vs Oregon St.

Trying hard is good, but too hard means the game doesn’t come naturally. The Arkansas program could use a sports psychologist to get rid of the problem.

re: Your coffee maker

This, except get one with an insulated carafe to drip into. Coffee doesn’t cook on a burner that way.
London is great and this is a great museum. Somewhat off the standard itinerary but well worth it. Cutty Sark, Royal observatory and this museum.

You can see the bullet hole in his coat.
San Antonio is underrated, not overrated. Especially after the last 10 years of development.

Keep in mind no one that lives in SA goes to the downtown river walk. That’s for tourists. Much better places: Pearl and Southtown for action, Alamo Heights, Boerne, Bulverde, Northside for families.

It is miserable hot for 6 months
There’s lots of data about the auto admit programs at UT and TAMU. Biggest beneficiaries are rural kids from east and west Texas (white and Hispanic) and kids from south Texas (Hispanic). Lots of small high schools and easy to get in top %.

It doesn’t really help black kids from inner city. If they are eligible for automatic admission at UT, they are getting plucked by the Ivy League, top HBCUs or getting full rides at private schools.

Losers are A minus suburban kids who go to competitive high schools.

re: Best grill

Decide whether you want charcoal, pellets, or propane. Different amount of work involved to cook on each of them.

I prefer Weber of all types because replacement parts are easily available. I use my propane Weber 3-5 days a week and have had it for 12 years. Have replaced internals several times at a fraction of the cost of a new grill
I’ve met her. Looks great in person. Lives in NYC but sings at Houston Grand Opera fairly often.
Canned Spanish calamari pieces in olive oil from Trader Joe’s. Unique and addictive
Texas was in total control yesterday, even after the halfback pass for a TD. Then Sark tried for a quick strike instead of grinding ASU down like they have done against other teams this year. That coaching mistake put most of the team and all of the coaches in full choke mode.

Taaffe, the OL, Bert, and Sark choked. Only reason they won is Ewers, Golden and Helm. Texas has plenty of talent to match up with OSU. It’s whether they have the mental strength.
If my information is incorrect, provide rebuttal information. Otherwise we will assume your attempts at distraction are a substitute for being able to make a rebuttal.
Hatfield was offered the job, then afterwards Arkansas wasted Jimmy’s time to bring him in for a fake interview. Then Jimmy hung 51-7 on Arkansas at home. So I would say Arkansas should have offered Jimmy the job.

And Lacewell’s comments were about whether Jimmy should leave Oklahoma State. Not which job he should take. Jimmy has been very clear in his public comments that he wanted the Arkansas job and Arkansas shanked it on several occasions.
Maybe, but it’s this kind of thinking that keeps Arkansas football, well, Arkansas football. Same reason they didn’t go after Kiffin in 2017. And ended up with Morris and Pittman.
