As a coach you have to instill confidence in a player. That being said if you think you have 2 other players you want playing more...it's a different story.

He filled in and did a couple of games this year on the basketball side. He still has a role with CTSN even though it’s not full time.

He probably considers himself an "influencer" at this point

No, he didn't play poorly. Didn't you read? It was all right there.

God just had an amazing night blocking shots.

Think more let him sit and watch the game. There’s times when you know “I’m not playing” lets you focus on seeing other aspects that you might lose sight of only worried about your job in the process.

Some nfl quarterbacks still call out assignments and Audibles while sitting out a game to stay focused. I’ve seen others joking and not paying attention.

The Facebook comments aren't that bad. And I don't believe she is calling Coleman humiliating. I think the humiliating part is being on the bench and that all over sports news. The "denied a chance to finish" is too far. But I suspect this will blow over and Sears back to his usual minutes.

That's a very well-said and well-thought-out post. Kudos to her.

I'm constantly amused by people trying to act like Bruce is some terrible person. And what did he do exactly? He threw a BBQ and invited prospects then lied to the NCAA about it? Oooo, what a scoundrel!

Now, feel free to call out Freeze, we definitely have no moral high ground in football after that hire. And it's also a pretty hated hire for half the fanbase at least I'd imagine.

Fair take on both men. The only thing I’d like to clarify is that Auburn literally has never had any moral high ground whatsoever in football, and the fact that so many of their fans inexplicably try to make this claim is one of a number of the highly delusional things that even their more grounded alumni and connected supporters tend to do.

Eh, when Shug was our coach and the Bear was at Bama we did kinda (the NCAA goes to investigate Bama and Auburn gets put on probation jokes about back then exist for a reason).

Once Dye was our coach we were fighting fire with fire and didn't really anymore (outside of maybe Terry Bowden, who was simply too dumb and arrogant to play the game and collapsed after Dye's players were gone).

Auburn was coming off of a TV ban and Bowden knew what was going on at Auburn, Alabama, and the rest of major CFB by coaching in Alabama and his father.

It seemed like the NCAA was looking for another SMU type of scalp around that time. You can see the probation TAMU, Ole Miss, and Alabama were all given to conclude the NCAA was probably at its peak in power and influence then.

I wouldn't blame Bowden at all for not continuing whatever things Dye had going on which resulted in probation.

Uh, wasn't Auburn's NC season in 1957 - the year prior to Bryant taking over at Alabama - tainted by NCAA probation?

Auburn has some terrific supporters and I mean that, but they (and I’m not even talking about the lunatics we all have, I mean their regular supporters composed of working professionals and everyday people) simply are incapable of discussing this issue rationally.
